M3 production numbers vs M5?

the loathsome dealer scum around me are charging right around +10 to 15k over for E46 M3. or at least, that's what they are asking, so probably can get it +/- 1-2k in that range.

anyway, i'm wondering if the damn dealers are like mad diseased beasts that have now gotten the taste for human blood and won't settle for the old food. seems like the drug habit they've gotten into with being the only source for M5s is being passed right into the M3.

i thought M3 production numbers, like all past M3 vs M5, was supposed to be way higher?

anyone know what the 2001 M3 production numbers for the US is supposed to be?

Jacob

I'm not sure about the numbers but it is very safe to say that the M3 will be produced in much higher quantities.

Anyone know what the exact numbers are?

The M3 will be produced in around 100/day and the M5 in around 50/day.

The M5 has a higher top speed in
unrestricted form by at least 10 m.p.h.
I believe the 2001 M5 is slightly quicker
than the previous year's M5s. (4.7/13.07 in
Motor Trend 2001) I believe the 2001 M5
is a couple tenths quicker in the 1/4-mile
than the M3. This is insignificant though.
I think the M3 has more of a speed "sensation" and might be easier to
drive fast. However, it should be noted that
at Hockenheim and Nurburgring the M5 with
BMW test drivers beat the best time for
the E46 M3 consistently. It was a small margin, but the M5 was faster.

If this is the case, than where are all of these cars going? Perhaps outside of the US?

according to BMW, the 2001 and 2000 M5s are the same mechanically. Maybe the difference in times is driver related.
