Spare the criticism, I bought 20" wheels.. lol
Last week, after posing the question of purchasing 20” Breyton Visions, the alarming answer was NO!! You guys replied that the handling, ride quality, performance of the car would all go to heck. Well, instead of folding, I doubled down. I just hope I don’t regret it like I have at times on the table.
I purchased 20” Antera Type 309 wheels. They’re pretty awesome. Fronts 20x8.5 Rears 20x10 with Bridgestone Potenza SO3 tires. The lip on the rear will be 3.5”, front lip Im not sure. But the wheels look menacing on an older 7 series they had a picture of.
I’m assuming these wheels are ungodly heavy but for some reason I wanted the larger look. I’ve always wanted the larger wheel and didn’t want to regret not getting it later on down the road. If they aren’t right for the car, I’ll part with them. I truly got a sweet deal from Joel @ CarNutz in Bellevue, WA. If you need something, go through him. I have purchased many things in the past, and he has never failed me.
Wheels come in Thursday next week. I’ll post some pictures once they are put on. I’ll also give you some feedback as to the ride quality. Thanks for all the input everyone gave me on the subject. I read each and every post, but in the end, chose to do what I wanted to do. Just hope my gamble adds up to a big smile in the end.
Take care,
Bojan

Good luck.. I know I was somewhat "out there" against the purchase.. Remember me? I said that posers buy 20" wheels..
But I also did add that it was your car, cash and that you should do whatever you felt was right.. Glad you did..
Congrats.. I am sure they will look good

Re: Spare the criticism, I bought 20" wheels.. lol
i'm confused...are these wheels for your m5 or the escalade??
sorry, couldn't resist...it's your car, don't worry to much about what others have to say, if you like the look that's what counts the most.

Re: Spare the criticism, I bought 20" wheels.. lol
The Antera 309 is a nice looking wheel and I do like the deep stainless lip. Still not sure if 20's are not too big for the M5 but your pics might just change my mind. Congrats anyway.
Regards,
Terk.

I think the 20's will look good. Especially if your car is lowered. do you have a suspension on there.

Re: Spare the criticism, I bought 20" wheels.. lol
I would not have chosen those tires tho. Had a set and was less than impressed with them. In fact, I will say they sucked IMHO.
Definately post pics once you get them on the car. I am interested to see how it comes out. My initial reaction would be 20s are too big for the look of the car, but then again, it is not THAT much bigger than stock.

Congratulations Serb. Please post some pictures after you get the wheels on the car. Will be interesting to see how the car looks compared to an M5 with 19s.

Re: Spare the criticism, I bought 20" wheels.. lol
Thanks for the responses guys.
To vndkshn,
Why would you say those tires "suck." From what I’m aware of, the tires are pretty awesome. Another enthusiast with an e36 M3 said it’s his favorite tire. From other research, I found the same enthusiasm. What didn't you like? I can still change the tires to another, like the new Pirelli Rozzo (sp?) if it is indeed better.
Thanks,
Bojan

Re: Spare the criticism, I bought 20" wheels.. lol
fyi, if you checked all the threads on this board you will find that the so3 and michelin pilot tend to be the highest 'rated' tires by users here...not sure why someone would say they 'suck' as that has not at all been the experience here. the only issue i hear is that they don't wear that great, but dry and especially wet handling is terrific.
