WOW, I Got Movit installed today!

Finally got the Movit kit installed.
They really amazing!!

The feeling is much better and the braking ability seems to have improved greatly.
They are much easier to use in sense of giving proper amount of brakes when barking hard before a tight corner and I have to say that they feel much better than stock.

Can't wait to try them on Nürburgring and Autobahn next week!

I had to use a 6mm spacer, does anyone know if I have to adjust the wheel settings because of the spacer?

Cheers,
/Johan

6mm spacer...is that with stock M5 wheels?

I assume you got the 'E39-safe' Mov'it kit with the 322mm rotor?

6mm is not too much but it dioes change your alignment a little bit . When I had Movit brakes Installed on my Camaro I had to use 10mm spacers. then I The car realigned .

BTW Nurburgring is open all day on the 1 april. See YA there if you come down. I will be easy too spot.

JEM,

6 mm is with BBS RC 18. Yes it is the 322 mm kit. Do you mean wheel bearing safe?

Mattar,

Yes! The difference is bigger than I expected. Will drive extensively on Autobahn and on Nürburgring next week, will post follow up.

Roy,

Since I probably will have to use wider spacer for summer tires, which comes on today, I should consider a wheel alignment, right? I will be in Germany on the 1st but have aother plans, I am now reconsidering this.

Cheers,
/Johan
PS Roy, was this a pre Aprils fool joke?

Johann
A wheel alignment is always a good thing especially when set up with performance oriented specs to enhance stability and tire contact when in the twisties. negative Camber and positive Caster is a good thing. How much for M5 I do not know . But a good base line for most cars if they can be adjusted that is -0.5degrees Camber per wheel and +4.5 to 6 degrees caster. Most alignment machines measure in minutes instead of degrees now a days .Leave toe in stock unless you want the ultimate . But it comes at a price of tire wear(scuff).

And yes the Ring is open on Sunday 1 April.
As long as the weather holds i will be there.

I'll be installing my 2nd E39 MOV'IT kit tomorrow afternoon. I installed mine a couple weeks ago and started this web page of instructions. During tomorrow's installation for my neighbor, I'll take some more photos and finish the write-up so that the instructions are more complete.

I'm still VERY happy with my MOV'IT kit. I'll be installing one in another neighbor's 2001 Mercedes SLK320 ina couple weeks and yet another in a friend's E34 540i 6-speed.

DZ: Nice pics! (I think it's just great how some of you guys on this board document these "procedures"! Very informative!)

How much for a caliper/rotor job like this?

The price was $2,895 for the complete MOV'IT E39 front brake kit.

I bought the MOV'IT rear brake kit today for $3,195. The added cost was because it includes a different parking brake setup to fit inside the Porsche rotor assembly. I didn't install it today because I was busy installing another MOV'IT front kit on my neighbor's 1998 540iA which is also Alpine White. The installation took 2.5 hours from start to finish. It's impressive how much quicker you can install a kit when you've done one before!
