Clear Corner "Angel Eyes"

Looking into upgrading to clears, selling the ambers, and was looking for some tips on purchase and installation...

Someone mentioned that we need y-splitter harness?

I heard Bekkers and BavAuto has them as well as Evosport. I think someone bought them for $800.00 pair?

Does one have to buy silverstone blubs as well for the turn signals?

Do we need to remove anything from our light assemblies to make the Clear corners work?

You only need the Y-splitter if you have a 1999/2000 M5. In your case, you have a '01 so you're fine. It's a straight swapout.

See my detailed instructions in this thread. You might have to adjust your headlights after the job so what I suggest you do is to park your M5 in a spot approximately 25 feet from a wall, mark where the lines of the headlights are, go ahead and install the headlights, park the M5 in the same spot, adjust the headlights using the white phillips screw on top of the headlights.

A bit tricky to install...but fun regardless. You also won't be needing the "bracket" that's shown here:

And the silvervision bulbs are entirely optional. It's up to you if you want those. I did and it looks great.

Good luck! It's a fun install.

Thanks Jason,

Your knowlege and tips are always appreciated. It's nice that members that have been here for a long time can still chime in to help others.

The 25' adjustment will help as I hadn't thought that far ahead. This helps me understand exactly whats involved...

Hello Jason...

You've provided great directions on your site. I just wanted to confirm my understanding regarding the bracket. If I've got 2000 M5 and I'm trying to install a pair of 2001 Angel eyes from a stock M5, then I would need a different bracket? If so, would you happen to know of a shop/store that just sells the bracket? Or would I have to get this bracket from another M5 owner?

I purchased a set of 2001 Angel eyes (stock) from a fellow board member over one year ago and haven't had the chance to install it. I did notice that it did not come with the bracket mentioned in your instructions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Johnny

Johnny,

Unfortunately, you do need this bracket for your M5. I believe that Bekkers might have this bracket available separately for your M5. It's worth a shot. It goes under the angel eyes. You also need the Y-splitter too. Did you get one too?

Thought so... thanks for the clarification. Saved me some time of trying to install and finding out I don't have the right parts! I do have the Y-splitter. I bought them from hids4less a year ago.

I searched Bekkers but couldn't find anything on their website. I'll give them a call and see if they'll see me just the bracket.

Thanks again for the help.

Any board members who has an extra 2001+ bracket they don't want?? Perhaps someone who has upgraded to clear corners??

Johnny

Hey Sam...

I just called Bekkers and they said that I don't need the bracket to install a pair of 2001 angel eyes on my 2000 M5. I'm a bit dubious about their claim (based on everything I've read here).

But what the heck, I'll give it a shot as it's not difficult to try it out (only four screws!). I'll probably give it a try Wednesday night. I'll let you know what I find out.

Johnny

Don't forget to template the light pattern of your current lights on your garage wall or a sheet of cardboard before you remove them so you can reset the new lamps to the same beam pattern. They most certainly will be off !!
