update
I was there yesterday. Their is so much new product that it is amazing. IMHO, the BMW stand was disappointing. 7 series in the flesh is, uh, shall we say, not the best looking car in the group. Without driving either, the new Audi A8L blows it away in looks and functionality (think of idrive that is actually easy to use). Of course, I suspect the Audi will not perform like the Bimmer.
2 E60's were there, a 530 and a very pretty dark blue over cream 6 speed 545i. The 5 series looks better than the 7, (although evolution of the E39 had so much more potential). The major improvement is rear seat room, they must have added 3-4 " in the rear and it is very noticeable. If you regularly take passengers n the back seat, it now has room equal to its market competitors. However, the dash is strange and certainly does not have the drivers feel of the E39. Other than putting the gas gauge in the bottom of the speedo, and the temp guage in the bottom of the tach, I do not see any other gauges (did I miss the vacuum gauge?). There is a multitude of shapes and textures, none of which seem to blend with each other. Drivers cupholder comes out of the dash on the passenger side and opens across and above the console at dash height (passengers is near the door and pulls straight out). It might work in practice, but does not look that user friendly. The car may (and probably does) drive better than its predecessor, but this car is need of some serious feng shui!!!!
Regards,
Jerry
