V1 hardwire input needed

OK - I need to get my V1 installed, I've only had my '00 M5 for 10 days now, but I am going to get myself in some real trouble if I don't get off my diff and do it. On my M3 I used the vanity light voltage source, I've heard sunroof power is another good place. What is the best place to tap power in an M5 to hardwire a V1? I plan to mount it on the window up to the drivers side of the mirror. Lots more room there than in my E36 M3, which is nice.

Tap the homelink power source so that it shuts off with the ignition. open the top center map light panel. There will be a bundle of wires that are wrapped together. Find the green wire with the white stripes. Tap that for the power. Ground the hardwire kit with the sunroof motor screw.

The only question now is are you a "right" or "left" V1 user? I like to mount mine to the right of the mirror but some like to mount it closer to their line of sight to the left of the mirror. Which are you? Inquiring minds want to know!

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."

Interesting question!

I have experimented with this over the years. I now have my V1 mounted on the right side close to the base of the mirror. It is far enough away form the mirror so that it can "look" out the rear window. What I really like is from the front, it blends in witht he mirror and it is hard to see.

I have the remote embedded in the overhead panel shared by the UGO, sunroof switch, mic. etc.

Here is where I placed the V1 main unit. I still have full radar functionality and also front laser functionality. I have lost rear laser detection, but I do not feel that this is much of a necessity.

Daniel, Since I will be getting the Lidatek Le20 or 30 if it is available, than the loss of rear laser detection is not neceassary as the Lidatek will have its own rear sensor, Correct?

Has my Mirror shipped Yet? I almost got nailed by a Laser today in the beast. I just pulled out into the fast lane to overtake a slower vehicle when I spotted them and nailed the Stoptechs.

Lets here it for fast reflexes and paying attention.

The mirror also works with the K40, so you could go with them if you decided not to wait for the new Lidatek version transponders. I would recommend placing the V1 unit underneath the rear package shelf behind the rear seats, and then using the jammer's transponders (front and rear) for both laser dection and laser jamming. You can redirect the jammer's transponder laser detection signals to the front and rear V1 arrows in the mirror. This way you will have full detection with complete concealment of the V1 main unit. The placement of the main V1 unit under the rear package shelf will not affect the quality of radar detection.

Your package should leave Tuesday. It is waiting for the V1 main unit to arrive.

Cheers.

Cool, I would prefer everything hidden.

If the LE 30 is not released by the 19th then I will buy the LE 20 whilst I'm over there.
