Good Morning...
ELEVENS suggested that I post pictures of a mod that I did a while back, so here it is:
I like my clutch engagement to start just after the pedal begins to move, so I decided to add a clutch stop to the pedal. The stock part is a simple plastic "bumper" that is pressed into the threaded hole (nice of BMW engineers to thread the hole, knowing that some of us would want a clutch stop

)
I went to the UUC website, but their clutch stop was $20 plus shipping ($6.90 for CA)

Then I went to the McMaster-Carr website (
www.mcmaster.com), and found a similar item (machine leveling foot) for under $2 with free shipping...No Brainer

McMaster-Carr "clutch stop"
I had to cut the threads shorter since the threaded section was too long, but a hacksaw worked fine for that. I also removed the second "jam" nut they provided with the leveling foot. As you can see, the clutch strikes the stop just left of center, as I probably push the pedal that way, but is still well on the stop, and won't bypass it. I can't remember the exact thread, but I believe it was 3/8-16 (I know UUC shows it as an M10

) My only complaint is that the nylon base material is fairly hard, and makes for a firm stop when I depress the clutch (jars my leg a bit with a quick clutch move). If you want a slightly softer stop, go with a rubber based stop...
Anyway, if you'd like more information, or other pic's, let me know and I'd be glad to help
