213s or 215s? I thought our speakers are 5.25, so wouldn't the correct ones be QM215.61Q? Aren't the 213s 6.5 in. mid/woofer drivers?

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."

The QSD-216 are 6.5" and QSD-213 are the 5.25" component Top of the Line Q-Series speakers offered by MB Quart.

The PCE-216 are also 6.5" component set and cost roughly HALF of the QSD 216 in the Q-Series Line.

The speaker model numbers beginning with PCE ifollowed by numbers is the MB Quarts "Premium Line" of speakers.

Re: Just had my DSP stereo upgraded! One word.... NICE!

If you are just going to be changing your speakers, not subs, but just the 5 and a quater inch speakers then it is almost a plug and play deal. Just remove the old speakers and mount in the new ones hooking up the speakers with the exsisting wires. I dont think there would be a need to go to larger gauge wire since you are still going to be running the same power into the new speakers. The only issue you may come across when searching for new speakers is their depth. Also I know a few people that buy speakers based on other peoples oppinions but YOU really need to hear the different companys. Each speaker usually has its own characteristics, MB Quart usually being bright sounding(really brass like and metallic) Where as Diamonds are a little softer(depending on the tweeter) with a little less mid bass. Then there are companys such as Focal and CDT who make some great and IMO best sounding speakers. I personally would reccomend CDT eurosports to anyone looking for a high end speaker to purchase.

I absolutely agree with Sams statement, everybodys ears are different. MB Quarts might sound great to one person, and to sharp for another. So Sam, you preach that you must hear speakers before you buy them and not take other peoples suggestions, but isn't this what you just did with the CDT's?

Re: Just had my DSP stereo upgraded! One word.... NICE!

Yeah Ill admit it, I made a hypocritical statement but I have heard every other speaker and they sounded good but not great so I dont think I have audiophile ears. PAN5R, sorry I misread your original post, I think that installing a dsp amp would be just as hard as installing an aftermarket and I would assume it would be cheaper and better to get an after market amp. I suggest you look into the diamond D5 and D7 series amps. I dont think you could just plug in the amp, it would take a fair amount of wiring

Re: Just had my DSP stereo upgraded! One word.... NICE!

You will get better audio results by ditch the DSP system and idea. I regular high quality amp/speaker/sub setup will sound great, and it is quite simple. Great audio results in the M5, or any car for that matter can be had for around 2,000 dollars. You just need to do your research, and shop around for the best prices.

Very nice, but i want to srick to something less extravagant. Some that would slot in the holes already there, and then add an amp, but still use the existing hed unit if poss.
