You are correct to a certain degree. Most RUFs, the CTRs, did start as a factory turbo. The BTRs start with NA engines. There are very few BTRs around, so it is not a surprise if someone had thought otherwise.

The CTRs are bi-turbos in the 550-590 HP range, the BTRs are single-turbos in the 420 HP range. Huge difference in performance. I believe Adam and his dad owns a CTR. The best of the breed.

Pong,
I guess this is what I get for missing dinner with Donnie, eh? Congratulations on the huge jump from the Miata to the Porsche! So what's going to happen on our next planned drive together? Are we still going to switch cars?

Eddie.

Roland,

Thank you for the input, and nice to see you around this neighborhood. I haven't seen you on Rennlist of late and was wondering if you're enjoying your RUF too much to read these boards anymore.

The car is at RUF's place as we speak, getting the PPI, compression and leak down tests. I'm expecting their test results anytime now.

It will be shipped to Oxnard in the next 6 weeks, like most other Porsches. I'm debating if I should carriage it up to my place, or come south to drive it home. If you are close to the Oxnard area, I may just come south and visit at the same time.

Eddie,

Long time no hear. Stanford must keep you real busy. Are you sure you still remember how to shift? Would love to show you the car when it gets here.

Purchase Update

RUF just faxed me the leakdown test results, the numbers vary between 3% and 6%, so seems very acceptable, and I am going ahead with the purchase.

Pong,
I admire your patience. I would have just bought it months ago.

Cheers.

Daniel,

I think Pong is VERY wise for taking the steps that he has been. I'd do the same if I were in his shoes. Buying a car sight unseen from overseas is always a risky proposition and this is certainly no exception. And now Pong's faced with the hardest part which is the wait. I'd be climbing up the wall if I were him at this point.
