exhaust problem needs help

Just got the Tubi exhaust installed at the dealer. I had to bring it back in b/c it was "bouncing" against the bottom of the car and it smelled like something was burning up.
The same mechanic said an extra bracket was installed, and that a piece of plastic or wood must have came up from the road.....
Anyway, the check engine light came on after I got the car back. It now feels like it is not as powerful, although that may be me. So, my main question is what do you guys think is causing this check light b/c it seems to me like the mechanic is overlooking something. Does it need to get a chip made for it so the cars computer knows the air flow is different?
Thanks ahead.

I'm not sure what could be causing the check engine light. He didn't remove the cats, did he?! What does he mean, "extra bracket"? Sometimes you will get a strange smell with new exhausts after they heat up. I have B+Bs and the car seems more powerful, if anything. No chip alterations needed. BTW, I will be in DC tomorrow and would love to hear the Tubis. If you would like to hookup, email me at kctime@aol.com.

there might be several reasons for the check engine light...

1. the mechanic didnt plug some of the oxygen sensors which is nonsense since this is a catback system and the sensors are at the front- he should not even have to touch the sensors in the first place

2. the mechanic didnt route properly the oxygen sensors harnesses and they touched the exhaust and melted shorted out (but see #1)

the smell is ok for a new exhaust until it gets "cooked" inside- this is normal and will go away unleast there is no enough clearance and the exhaust is touching something that it is not supposed to be.

the car feels less powerful because a free-er flowing exhaust will move your torque curve higher and you will lose some in the lower end- however the top end should be better. typical tq vs. hp tradeoff...
