Okay, here's the set up. You're on a relatively uncrowded Los Angeles Freeway, the 405 Southbound, at what usually is rush hour, 6pm, but for some reason, traffic is flowing fine now. You're driving in the 2nd lane (2nd to the right that is), and you approach an E55 cruising 65mph in the slow lane. You want to get up next to him just to wave 'Hello.' You approach him, and honk, but he doesn't notice you. You drive a little bit in front of him so he'll notice you, then the two of you can marvel at an M5 driving next to an E55 on the freeway, in the slow lanes no less. When you pass him by one car length he apparently notices you because he turns on his left blinker, slams the throttle, and darts over two lanes to the left, begging for a race... What do you do?

Roy etal, I have no first hand info, but in all of the assorted USA magazine test's that I have seen the 0-60 times of both cars were within 2/10 of a second of each other. Hardly enough of an advantage to scorch anyone.///DG
However, I don't think the M5's high speed prowess does not kick in until at least after 100mph. After that speed the M5 should be able to out accelerate the E55 convincingly. According to Car and Driver, the M5 accelerates from 0 to 150mph in 30 seconds versus 37.1 for the E55. In fact, the limited Z06 Vette accomplishes the same feat in 28 seconds.
But then again, most speed contests I have been involved in don't go much past 120 mph.
Just my 2 cents.
