4-wheel Brembo installation & Panevino lunch - Saturday, Sep 13

Tomorrow morning, around 9:00, I'm starting a 4-wheel Brembo installation on John Huang's car. After we finish up the front brakes, we'll take the car out for a quick test dirve and bed-in session, then continue on to Panevino. I'm expecting Young Kim and a few other car buffs to join us in the mid morning to hang out and come to lunch. Feel free to stop by. After lunch, I'll finish with the rear brakes and, if anyone has the energy, we'll attack my exotic beer fridge.

Although the weather is supposed to suck, so we may not be sitting on the patio out back.

Young is a bad influence on John! After Young put on his silver Brembos and made plans to go to a 4-wheel set-up, John decided to sell his StopTech front kit (still new in the box) and just go straight to a Brembo 4-wheel system. If you're interested in John's StopTech brakes at a very good price, check out this thread in the For Sale Forum: Stoptech

In the meantime, come join us at my place tomorrow, at least for lunch.

Come on Dave how can i be a bad influence?

It's all your fault for taking this pic for John to see....

if anyone wants to buy his stoptechs...
definitely pick this one up, it's still in the box
and it's the front 355mm kit...selling it at a pretty good price to pay for his brembos.

Dave: Love those Brembos and would love to have a set but I might have sealed my fate. I am against using any spacers. I still have my OEM M5 style 65 wheels for Summer and just picked up a set of four 8x17 style 66 for Winter. So, unless Brembo comes out with a package that will fit w/o spacers front and rear, or I decide at some point to unload two sets of wheels/tires (unlikely), I guess I'm 'SOL'.

Rgds,
Norm

Norm - The StopTech brakes that John is selling will fit under both of the wheels you own (M5 stock and Style 66M) without spacers. This is the StopTech front kit which is designed to work with your stock rear calipers. If you want a 4-wheel kit, then you are correct - you are SOL with those wheels.

We had a good morning and got the fronts installed, then Sean stopped by with his Ruf Turbo and we all went over to Panevino for lunch. Maria was thrilled with the ride in Sean's Porsche. Sorry you (Sean) had to take off before we got seated. Now I'm 1/2 way through the rear installation. Just confirmed that the ACS Type 3 wheel does clear the Brembo back brakes. Phew!

Here's a shot of the collection of parts from yesterday morning, before I started the install:

John - did any of your post-installation pictures turn out?

The installation went very well, except for one rear line that had a burr in the fitting, so I had to reuse the stock line. I'll order a new line on Monday and we'll swap it out the same time I install the BeastPower rear swaybar brackets.

John has an Eisemann exhaust that uses the swaybar bracket as a hanging point for one of the pipes, so we need to get some different hardware before we can put in the BeastPower bracket. It's always something!

Very interesting Many comparisons have been made to Kelleners and Eisenmann exhausts. My Kelleners does not use the swaybar bracket as a mounting point.

oh the reason why the sway bar was used as a mounting point is because the car is a 540 with the quad exhaust system
