Was wondering how many folks are on the fence about Lowering the front Ride height by 1" and still maintaining similiar ride quality?
After seeingELEVENScar, I thought that it really looks better!
Ok you don't have to get in right away but who thinks they might be in?

You caught me... i was actually hoping someone would see the post and say i have some springs for $ 75.00
No rubbing at all? Are they progressive or specific? how do they compare to our OEM springs?
Lastly, have you measured the distance from lip to tire compared to rear lip to tire?
Thanks SAm

No rubbing at all - so far. I honestly cannot detect any difference in handling or ride quality. The car still seems very balanced both handling-wise and over bumps.
Measuring from the floor, up through the hub center, up to the fender lip:
Front: 25 7/8"
Rear: 26"
How does this compare to others (get out your measuring tape). I should have measured mine before the mod.

I thought H&R came out with a kit for the rears as well?
but still... I think the beast deserves a bit more than just springs... fine if you want to go for the looks.. but the proper way is to get a full suspension...

What are the benefits that you have seen from full suspension? What is the cost of the DFC setup you have?
It sounds like it would be Kool to have

The beast already has what it deserves, considering what it was designed to do. The "proper way" to modify it for racing - IMO - would be springs, shocks, swaybars, bushings, wheels, tires, and steering all tuned to complement each other. BMW is one of only a few outfits that I would consider qualified to design, test, and tune all these suspension components to work as a complete system.
I see it all the time. Guy shows up at the racetrack with that new giant-sized front swaybar, coil-over kit, etc., only to end up posting slower times than he did with a stock system. H*ll, it happened more than once to me! My track times only improved after changing out practically everything. Once all parts were in-place that were designed to work together, the car went real fast. But then realized that the car was ruined for everyday street use. I'm talking about my Vette, here - not the beast.

Purchasing jsut shocks to put on the OEM struts is probably not a good idea. Suspension travel is greatly reduced which means that there is a higher likelihood of hitting the bump stops. In the long run, the shocks could be more likely to blow out.
