No doubt there are a couple wizards around that know the tricks for easy swaybar R&R. Next time somebody should take a video camera to document their secret method, so we can cheat off them. Brute force of lifting motors or dropping frames is not always needed. It's something a magician would appreciate.

I've watched several experienced mechanics remove a factory one-piece stainless exhaust from certain chassis without cutting it in pieces. Other's say you can't.

Robert... Sam at renn-sport mentioned that the front should take no more than 3 hours. I am going to call my tech tomorrow (wednesday) but I do not hold out any hope that he will be willing (let alone able) to A: do the job or B: quote me a fair price.

After all, it took him 2 hours to fit my SSK !!

If I hear something constructive I will post it here.

Or............ Should I just do the Dinan rear sway bar and be done with it???

If there is ONLY a 1mm difference between the stock front sway bar and the aftermarket sway bar being 1mm larger, should I simply leave the front sway bar alone? Is there a worthwhile gain from adding 1mm in size to the front sway bar???
I can simply do the DINAN rear sway bar and its adjustable. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.
Robert

1mm it may be, but that mm makes a Huge difference. If you were only going to make ONE suspension modification from stock, it would be the front Sway bar. Robert, It is THE most important component in your entire system.

The OEM one may be almost as big, but it does not perform anywhere near what the ACS one does.

It holds the car flat. A stock M5 does not sit flat in the corners. After the Front sway is done, it is poetry in motion.

I'm sure the Dinan Rear is fine, but I'm also sure ACS/Eibach have balance the front and rear to compliment each other, because it feels soooo good.

Tech took 8 hours on the Front Sway, and 1 hour on the rear including BeastPower Brackets. Yes motor had to be lifted, and Yes, subframe was lowered.

Mark,

Doesn't stiffening up the front increase understeer? Would it not be better to install a rear swaybar instead?

Cheers,

Najeeb

Hey Najeeb,

I was over simplifying it to demonstrate the importance of that front sway.

In fact it is always a Balancing act with suspension.

It is true that, if you Stiffen the Front sway and soften the rear you will Increase Understeer and Reduce Oversteer.

But that is not what we are doing. We are Actually increasing Both. The Stock Beast is deliberately designed with alot of Understeer for safety sake.

It is better to have a more balanced car and for street guys but leave it still slightly more on the Understeer side. (That way you can always see what you are about to hit.)

The ACS are Beautifully balanced and are perfect just the way they are. I love the car as it is for the street.

For Track, I most probably will upgrade to the full DFC. But for street guys this is Perfect. The ACS sways with the Dinan Struts.

Mark -

Thanks for that analysis. I am bone stock right now. I have seen some of the comments regarding the improvement of just upgrading sway bars alone. This coupled with the group buy offer from Sam seems to make a sensible first suspension mod.

Of course the BeastPower bracket will be mandatory

Mike

Edit: upon re-read of the other post I realize that the group buy was for the technik bars... so need to read into this some more.
