Question about Active Autowerke CAI

I have used the seach feature and dug through piles of old posts about different CAI systems but haven't found what I wanted about the AA system. So my question to you is what is the pricing on the system and what kind of power gains are we talking about with it? My last question is does the system also give you the brake duct cooling (this is a rumor I have heard)?

Thanks in advance for your replys and help!

-Travis

Hey Travis,

Yes the AA CAI does have the brake cooling included.

There have been various GB and deals floating around. Full price is around $1K but I have seen deals as low as $870.

MAH got 13Hp but that was with Powerchip as well.

The AA CAI looks awesome, but really needs the sensor relocated upgrade as well.

The looks and the brake ducting are its two best features. As when you get down to it, it is really just a Tube connected to your stock air box, and a couple of K & N Filters.

Dinan whilst far more expensive, $3,500 for the full system is very well consructed and purposely designed.

It is C/F eye candy, but increases the entire diameter all the way through, including larger MAFS, and includes the Sensor relocation. It allows you to take advantage of the larger Throttle bodies at a later date. That way you have a good induction ready for Headers for max benefit.

Recently installed the kit. The theory behind the gains is sound, get more air in and get more power out. Whether you go Dinan or Active you will feel the gain. The air inlets on the car before the modification are small in comparison to the inlets now on my car with the Active CAI and the brake ducts are also a nice addition.

Thank you both for your replys and information!

MIB- 3,500!! I thought that the system was 2,000 and the upgrade for the water sock and relocated sensor (whatever it's called...drawing a blank) was another 500?

Dinan is $2000 for the CAI, $1000 for the MAFS, and another $500 for the software...

Actually Good point T, I wasn't including software.

My break down was $2 CAI , $1K MAFS and $500 for the Foglight upgrade, (Ram flow effect.) The sensor relocate is part of the CAI.(I think).

So it is $3,500 Plus Software and Plus installation.

Tfung- Thanks for the info!

Quick question if you don't have the Dinan software and have Powerchip instead would having systems like Dinan CAI and MAFS be pointless? What kind of powergains would you see with the combination instead of the Dinan software...less, the same, none?

Thanks in advance

You hit the nail on the Head kid, it won't be pointless, it will be AWESOME.

This is exactly my plan to have the increased Airflow courtesy of DINAN but drive it with the Powerchip.

Costs for the AA CAI

The AA CAI was right at $900. The Powerchip is $890. I am sure based on the many drivers here who have actually dyno'd the before and after that this combination is the most bang for the buck.

Stock - 342HP

Modified - 356 HP (PC, AA CAI, SS X-pipe) total cost $2650

Ok, I gotta ask... Steve Dinan's S2 claims have been pretty harshly critisized here, perhaps with some justification, but what about AA's claim of +34.43 hp @ 4300rpms +39.18ft/lbs @ 5500rpms (taken directly from their web site). Has anyone called them on this claim? Or do they also have the same special dyno rack as Dinan?
