best mod....

I have been looking though this web sight for some time now..even prior to my purchase of the 2002 beast. However, I frequently see threads that reads "software" best mod...or "3.45 diff" best mod...or "ssk with RP" best mod...or "CAI" best mod... Well, I just want to get a survey of what you guys think your ONE best modification is.

So far I have got the Powerchip 91 Gold, and the Rogue SSK with tranny mount is on its way...RP in the garage waiting. I would love to see some input from guys with multiple modifications done and what he or she thinks the one best mod is. Thanks

Underdrive pulley's are traditionally good for 8 to 10hp at the wheels for most vehicles. Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaro's, etc....

There is an underdrive kit for the M5, i believe it is a fairly new aftermarket mod for these cars. If you are fairly mechanical it's an easy 1.5 to 2 hour job for most vehicles. You'll need a pulley puller & you can rent one from any good tool shop or buy one for under $100.

My immediate plans for my Beast are:
B&B triFlo
Powerchips
Underdrive Pulley's
Short Shifter

after that.... suspension & brake upgradesNow the much bigger issue..... to get my beast! I'm on expedite mode and have 4 solid ones I'm tracking for the best deal.

Oh this one is easy...

Best bang for the buck= PowerChip.

Best mod to completely transform your car= AC Schnitzer DFC suspension + ACS sway bars (front and rear)

Not cheap though, with labor you are looking at $7-8,000.

For me...

It goes something like this

For going:
Powerchip or even a 100 octane fillup

For turning:
Dinan Stage 3 suspension or ACS DFC

For stopping:
Stoptech BBK

For driving dynamics
Autosolutions SSK

Of all of them, if I had to pick just one. I'd go with the shortshifter first since you feel the difference immediately.

AGREED.

Why is it when I agree with you, my bank balance heads seriously south.

The UDP are a nice little cheap MOD.

BBK look way cool and eventually are a must.

I don't know about the Autosolutions SSK because I haven't tried it, but I must say that I really love my ACS short shift. Now that it is broken in, it feels very nice. Similar to the stock feel, but much shorter throws, all in all a very high quality piece.

About 3-4X the price of the others though, like Rogue, Autosolutions, etc. But since I have bought so much other Schnitzer stuff I figured what the hell... might as well go with what I believe is still the highest quality.

MIB: Yeah funny how this is true, huh? I will eventually do a BBK, I've just been doing some research to see which ones to go with. I will probably do these at the same time that I pull the trigger on the rest of my Stage 2 mods: 3.45 gears, headers, etc.

BTW, I will be talking to a custom fabricator who builds exhausts for Formula Atlantic and other race cars. He built a full custom exhaust for my friend's 700hp 996TT. I am going to be talking to him about building me a set of CUSTOM FABRICATED HEADERS! Designed from ground up with equal lengths, mandrel bends, etc.

Ha! Now we will see how much Dinan's R&D is really worth!

Well, I guess I'm on the right track. Powerchip and soon the rogue SSK/tranny mount/RP.

I got 22,000 miles on the car and it looks like new tires in the near future. S03's and BBK...maybe. Anybody have pictures of the BBK? Well, I'm tired of the brake dust and thinking axxis pad, but maybe I'll wait and go with a complete stoptech with the tires. Anybody know how bad the dust is with the stoptech vs stock....I know you don't buy the stoptech for dust reduction, but it would be nice if that was one of it's benefit.

IMO:

SSK - single best, cheapest mod which you feel immediately.
P/chip - eventually I will get this, but I first think that I want to get the other mods done so that it can "learn" the extent of my mods and give me the best upside.
BBK is a "for looks" item if you don't track the car. Also a mod I will do but that will likely mean I need aftermarket wheels..
DFC - this is fast becoming THE suspension set up to get but not cheap by any stretch..

You want a picture of BBK.. search out posts by ELEVENS on his brembo's .. or click on MIB's YODA link to see Stop techs..
