Aluminum shift knob and brake handle

Please take a look at the picture from the link below:

http://www.hireswallpapers.com/model...W&model=E39+M5

Does anyone know where I can get the aluminum shift knob and the emergency parking brake handle?

Thanks for your help!

BMW no longer makes these in aluminum. There were problems with them peeling. Now you can only get them from BMW trimmed in leather. If you want them in aluminum, you should look into AC Schnitzer.

Cheers.

Well....

Even though BMW doesn't make them anymore your are not completely out of luck. The Z4 has an aluminum shift knob that is an identical shade of trim to the M5. I was in an M5 just recently with a guy who had replaced his knob with a Z4 one after his knob on his 00' M5 started peeling. He had to point it out or else I wouldn't have noticed it was from a Z4 (there are slight design differences although it fits just fine).

Hope this helps!

I should also point out that Don had to "make" that shift knob using the shift pattern and the aluminium Z4 shift knob. It doesn't come that way. The Z4 shift knob doesn't have the lighted shift pattern.

don't lose hope

you can have aluminum trim that WONT peel.

I painted the interior of my E36 M3 but there was no aluminum center console availible so i simply made my own custom one. All you need is stock wook trim (which almost all of you have). You have the option of a matte look (bmw titanium silver with no clear coat) or the shiny finish with clear coat. clear coat does provide alot more protection but if you are careful it should be ok, plus you can always clearcoat later if you like.

the process is very simple. simply take out wooden peices and sand down the clear coat with decent grit sand paper then go back with finer sand paper (black sand paper) and then its prepped for paint. its very easy and the results are amazing. the process can be reversed to wood but its harder and not sure how it would turn out. The peices i used were OEM wood trim underneeth so it definately works and quality is superb, only costs like $75 to paint everything also.

looks good, very inexpensive, high quality, not much else you could ask for.

here are a few pictures, anyways u get the idea (these are all without clear coat)

The Z8 has an aluminium shift know and e-brake handle as well... It's in a different shade of silver than the rest of the trim.. But might be easier to come by...
