Anyone wants the looks? But no power?

I always check out Ebay to keep tabs on the cars and what people sell em for. Well... today I came upoun this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6008

"Yes sir, I'd like a test drive..."
"Hey sure, hop on in."
-baseball bat to front windsheild, all side windows, and writes on back with spray paint, "Don't pose"-

Eh, it's annoying when people put the badges on their car. I've run into a few down here and when I call em on it, they just say whatever, you're jealous. Usually something, like a missed badge on a wheel, etc...

Yeah, he forgot to change the rearview mirror, too:

On the other hand, take the badge off and it looks like a pretty darn nice 540i - pretty clean for a 75K mile car. After all, the 540 IS the second-best 4-door sports sedan in the world.....

Actually, I think it looks nice, for a poser. Does BMW have an assembly plant in Guam? It was originally exported from Guam according to the Carfax.

04/26/2000 US Customs
Exported from:
Guam
Imported to:
Charleston, SC

If the previous owner was a member of the armed forces, the state department, or a contractor working for these agencies, that individual's action to bring the car into the US would show up in Carfax as an import from that location. There are about 200 to 500 US spec BMW cars allocated each year for members of the armed forces in Europe, these are not in the BMWNA data bank nor Carfax until imported as individually owned vehicles.

That is just to funny!

You are bidding on a 2000 BMW 540 that $Thousands of dollars was spent to make it look like a BMW M5. The M5 add ons include 18 M5 wheels with Directional high performance tires, M5 Mirrors, and M5 Front end. Aftermarket exhaust was installed to make it sound like a M5. This 540 is very quick and responsive(Alot quicker than a stock 540, most likely the previous owner had Dinan work done to the car, because of how fast it is). No one will know that it's not a M5 unless you tell them. Get the same M5 look without the M5 price tag.

This is really very sad

These folks are the personifiction of posers!

The truth is 3/4ths of the motoring public doesn't know what an M5 is. The remaining 1/4th that do will pick this out in a heartbeat! And when you meet someone like that, what does the faked-up car say about the person?? Talk about subliminal communications!! Hey, everyone, I drive a fake car, complete with the badges!!

I prefer the reworked Honda Accord from last week (BMW front end, MB back end, Accord frame and doors), which made no rational pretense of being real.

I guess there's a summary for these folks - They're legends in their own minds!
