Red Line 5th, how bout 165!

So I traveled down to FL last weekend, a typical 5:15 drive which I did in 4:30 with 2 stops (cant resist coffee and Krispy Kremes), and got to "the sacred stretch" where my dad did 130 years ago in a big *** MB, and decided to let it rip. I have the Powerchip so no rev limiter and no 155 max, at red line, sea level, about 75 degrees (it was unusually cool at 8:00am), I hit 165 (ok maybe 164) but the car was still pulling and I was still shaking about 10 minutes later. I gotta tell you the car was so steady, so easy to drive, it was a phenom. Just had to share. Been off the board as of late, hope everybody's well. Murph

Murph,

I also have the Powerchip with 8000 RPM red line. Are you sure you have NO red line? I don't think Powerchip would program that way. Perhaps you ment no speed limiter. What was the RPM level at 165mph? I have also seen that speed but not in 5th.

Mark

Actually the "sacred stretch" is off the beaten path as you get off 231 and head towards Chipley and Vernon. It's a long straight with just corn fields and soy fields? on both sides, no houses, no nothing... Thats why i like it and the only place i would do something so foolish, other than a track.

Ben
I wonder how much speedo error there is in our cars. At 3500 in 5th, I show 85mph, so I would expect 7k to be 170. You only had 165 at about 7400, interesting.........thanks for the vicarious thrill........
Regards,
Jerry

Now THAT's quite a re-introduction back into the mix, Murphreak!!

Glad to hear you're back. We gotta get together, and SOON. I finally got my baby back, and took her to MidOhio for a weekend of bliss. Here's a few shots of her new get-up:

BTW, I saw you and Emma as I was pulling out of McGinnis Woods the other day. Not sure if you recognized the Beastmistress with her new bling-bling treads!

Later-
-Dave

165mph?!?!!?!?!?!

The most I have hit was 130, and after that, i looked like this for the rest of the day:

The thrill is just always there with these cars. I love it.

Wow - 165 on a backroad - impressive!!! I love some of those roads in that area - the cow population is higher than humans (I'd be scared if I was a cow - it's too close to Alabama ) AND lots of straights and long sweeping turns!
