Powerchip vs superchip?

someone on another BMW forum asked this question, and I thought maybe someone here would know...

Powerchip is basically superchips.. so why does powerchip charge 3 or 4 times more than superchips? What's the value added in there that deserves the premium?

How is PowerChip the same as SuperChips?

SuperChips has had a bunch of problems, especially those with the Hamann HM450 powerkit. PowerChips has had no problems, plus they get the A/F ratio right and the software is quite adaptive to mods.

They also offer a warranty.

I just read an article in a local magazine that specifically for BMWs, Powerchips is outsourced to Superchips... As in powerchip buys the technology from superchips... some cars they do a bit of tuning over the standard superchip program, but others are exactly the same...

I will find out tomorrow, as my car is going in for a PowerChip install and I am having dinner with the CEO and operations manager. Will keep you posted over the weekend.

Hey Tfung,

I believe that was the case many years ago that there was some type of relationship, but that is not the case anymore.

Powerchip do their own developement now, and have done for quite some time.

BTW most of these other companies give you a one chip suits all. Powerchip ask you a lot of questions and taylor your chip to you and your Mods. Your wants, needs and driving style. Personalized service.

Do you use golf clubs off the rack, or get them custom made.

Maybe thats not such a good example, as I get custom clubs but my golf still stinks.

That is true... but then I'm still looking for a company that can do dyno tuning on the ECU.... sigh...

PowerChip IS dyno tuning my ECU.

And as I add headers and whatever else, they will fine tune my car accordingly. One of the perks of living in So Cal!:p

Powerchips vs No-one-else-comes-close!

Powerchips has the ability to view custom maps in 3d and fine tune the car's acceleration at multiple levels; and they know how to do it well! There are plenty of people on the forum that have had one company's software, only to switch to Powerchip before being satisfied. They are definitely the way to go.

And yes, being in Southern CA does have its perks! We are working with them to custom dyno tune different stages of software to combine with our various upgrades. Powerchips is the real deal!

I concour,

Also a Perk of living in OZ.

I'm having my ECU read on Monday, but I'm waiting for the Valet switch to be released before I get the Powerchip.

Once the Beast is finished Power Mods to my satisfaction, I will get Powerchip to tune it IN REAL TIME.

These guys are the Real deal.
