Moving to Chattanooga/Atlanta area and have some questions...

I'll be moving to the Chattanooga TN area this fall for college and have some general questions.

1. Anyone have any experience with BMW of Chattanooga? How knowledgeable are they specifically with M5s? How is there service? Are they fairly good with getting stuff warrantied?

2. What are some tracks in the Chattanooga/Atlanta area? I'm talking anything from dragstrip to oval to roadcourse. How are they?

Thanks a lot guys!
Parker

Glad to have you, Parker!

I can't speak to BMW of Chattanooga, but I know a few folks on the board have dealt with them (TommyGun, perhaps?).

What I can speak to is one phenomenal road course just down the road a bit northeast of Atlanta---Road Atlanta is a hoot! It's got 12 turns, 2.54 miles, and about 110 feet of elevation change. I try to do it twice a year or more. The Beast loves it!

While I haven't been there yet, Birmingham AL offers the brand spanking new Barber Motorsports Park, site of the recent inaugural Grand Am Cup races. And Talladega has a cool road course setup that alternates from the infield to the banked oval...

Plenty of opportunities to stretch the legs of your Beast!

Let us know when you head this way; we've had a number of M5.com gatherings at Road Atlanta...

-Dave

You guys ever just have meets in Atlanta? Or just when you go to the track together? I'd really like to hear how your audio/sub setup sounds and, if you wouldn't mind, sit in your car and see how your short shifter feels. I had a UUC shifter but took it out cause I hated it so much. I've always wondered if mine was just a fluke or if have the rogue mounts would help a lot...

Thanks,
Parker

Buddy of mine (used to be on here - BimmerboyM5) took his car to Chattanooga BMW and got terrible service. Ultimately, he brought the car to Atlanta (chris motors) for service when it needed something. However; this is only 1 instance - so take it for what it's worth.

Road Atlanta is the local Road course and of course - you are close to great roads in the North Ga mtns/Great Smokey's. Road Atlanta is NE of atlanta and I think the local quarter mile drag strip is that direction as well (not sure, I'm a road racing kinda guy).

I lived in Atlanta forever and am moving back this fall - hope to catch up with some of those guys sometime after that with any meets!

edit- forgot - but Atlanta Motor Speedway is an oval and also has a road course - its south of Atlanta.

Dave,
When are you going to the track? I'd like to tag along. Are there open track days when we can take a few laps informally?

Parker,
I love my short shifter, and everyone who has tried it loves it, too. Yours must have been a fluke.
