Should I buy repaired bent wheels???

I am looking at a set of used wheels to buy but I just found out that one or two of the wheels are bent. The guy told me that they will fix it first if I buy them. I am just wondering if it's still worthed to buy the wheels or should I steer clear from them? After being repaired, are the wheels still good or will there be problems still? Thanks.

Hey VanM,

I hate vibration in the steering wheel. It drives me nuts. Absoloutely can't stand it. Me personally, I wouldn't risk it. I drive hard and very, very fast. I don't want my funeral notice to say, the repaired wheels usually hold up but aren't guaranteed at those soughts of speeds.

If you putter around down, I can't see it being a problem. But if you drive the wheels off the thing(Pun intended) then I would go with new.

Hey are you happy with your TUBI. Is it too quiet for you or just perfect? Do you have any pics, or any sound clips.

I'm still undecieded but favourites are the TUBI & Kelleners.

I don't want any resonance inside the car, I would sooner go for a quieter one than have it in your face when cruising.

Regards Mark.

I would go with Mark's suggestion and not purchase repaired wheels especially if you intend to use the power of your beast.

While I am certain someone out there has the technical capability to repair a wheel properly, it would also require them to have a certified process that meets OEM standards before I would consider their product.

There are cosmetic fixes and then there are fixes that involve more complex operations that many repair shops just don't have.

What will you save if the repaired wheel fails and damages your car and/or yourself in the process?

Thanks guys for the input. Now I have to rethink the whole thing.

MIB, I think the TUBI sounds great. It's quiet when cruising around and when you get on it, it has a nice wail to it in higher RPMs and a low bass in low RPMs. When I was looking for an exhaust back then, the one thing I did not want was resonance and the American V8 rumble (no offence). I just did not want my car to sound like a mustang. Although both are very different engines, they are still V8s and has that rumble to it. Some of the other exhausts for the M5 are nice and loud but most have the V8 rumble to it. The TUBI is the only one without that rumble. The exhaust was said to sound alot like a 550 Maranello by other owners on this board. I can't back that up though. There is also a louder race version of the TUBIs now and it's also cheaper.

I don't have any clips of the exhaust though. As for pictures, I don't have any either at the moment. I do have one complaint with the exhaust and it's the tips. They are the same size as stock but it is a thick rolled lip so it makes it look very small. I have been thinking about cutting them off and welding a thin lipped tip on. Overall, the TUBIs are still my favourite til today.

Have fun.

Hey VanM,

It sounds like your Tubi is the earlier two piece version. I believe they have upgraded to a three piece version and fixed the small appearance of the tips.

I wonder if the race version is much louder? It probably just does away with the resonators all together and just has that little x like the x-pipe.

Yeah, my exhaust was the older two piece version with the puny tips. I was never a big fan of the thick rolled lip exhaust tips so even the newer bigger ones wouldn't have done much for me. Well, hope you find your exhaust soon.
