what's wrong with you people?

Wow, I get my Beast delivered some time this week. It's the #5 in the US with ACS DFC suspension and other fun mods. Needless to say, I'm very excited! This will be my first E39; had an E34 Beast and loved it. Looking forward to that V8 rumble!!!
The only trouble is, as MIB said, I'm already bitten by that mod bug! What's wrong with you people, and what's wrong with me? Will I never be satisfied? Is that just what Beast-lovin' people are like, only and always wanting the very best and always striving to improve? It's always good in professional and personal life, but is it good for the wallet with such a Beast?
Anyone know any good support groups I can join? Is there an MA group (modders anonymous)?

solution found!

I know what I'm gonna do. I will make recordings to play to myself which say things such as, "you are OK. Your Beast is fast enough. 13-s. 1/4's are quick enough. You feel at peace about this. You have no fears about SL55's. If one is next to you at the head of a stop light, you can just calmly smile. You are content with 400+BHP."
I got it. I'll play those all the time, so I can relax. Heck, maybe I'll sell them to you guys, so you can join the peace as well. I'll use the profits to get my CAI and headers...

you have found the solution my brother....just keep going, as long as you feel comfortable.

When i got my M5, i didnt think i wanted to modify it except for the K&N filters and an exhaust. Some $20K later, im still not happy.

Oh well...speed=money.

Todd,
i think the mind of a M5 driver on this board is a little to stong to be hypnotized by your recordings but there might be a few that give in

Welcome chirofirst,

1) Denial.
2) Buyer's remorse.
3) Then the biggest grin your face can accommodate..

There have been many discussions on why we mod our already perfect beast... human nature I suppose. I look at it as a signature, a personal thank you for giving us so much pleasure.

Todd,

Congratulations on your DFC equipped M5.

It's too bad you weren't able to compare your car with a normal suspension M5 to see just how great the DFC suspension is. You will be spoiled on Day #1.

Which car did you buy? Did you buy the carbon black one from Seattle, or the one that just got the DFC installed 2 weeks ago at CEC in LA?

Well, since my DFC goes on this coming week, I will be the #6 or #7 car I guess.

Thanks all for the warm, humorous welcome. You guys are a real class act! I've been browsing this site for a year plus, and have really seen some genuinely kind, helpful souls loving their beasts! I agree that weak hypnosis tapes could not tame the beast-owning beasts who lurk here!

Todd

PS mine's the Seattle one.

Congrats Chiro,

Your now part of the problem. Coming to the Board with ACS DFC, is not helping me at all.

It just renews my fortification to bust past the extreme levels of incompetence at the dealerships and locate and score the DFC.

Huge Congrats.

The Beast is an Awesome car. A DFC equipped Beast is an Uber Beast. Almost an Esoteric thing. Of course now you have the capabilities to out handle a Dinan S2. The big Question that will drive you is will you let the Bug continue to whisper in your ear until it out performs the S2 as well. As I tell the Bug to leave me alone for a bit and go annoy a fresh victum. J/K

We expect a full write up on your impressions of the DFC.

Lol on the tapes. I just about had myself convinced that the DFC was too hard. I don't really need it. The beast handles fine. Its new, get used to it for awhile. Enjoy it. Whom am I kidding.

Must have D F C Must.
