Anyone tow?

Anyone tow anything with their M5s? I need to tow the motorbike to the track and doing in in a pickup sucks. BUT...I can't find any hitches for the M5. Anyone here try towing with it? Any ideas as to a good hitch that won't permanently scar my baby?

Thanks!

Boardmember louv is the person you should be in contact with as he has a tow hitch setup on his M5.

Some results from a search on 'tow hitch':

Thats amazing!

So, what's the tow rating ? Probably not enough for an E36 club racer on a trailer I'd guess. (say 4000 pounds)

Probably would be enough for a kart, and just maybe enough for a open-wheeler like a formula mazda or spec ford racer ?

the tongue weight limit is 90kg.

the tow rating is 1500kg. (...I think... I have to go check the specs)

No, you can't tow 4000lbs.

Reduc! What's shakin' man You got the M5??

Yeah I got an '03, prob not the best move financially but my heart couldn't take another used purchase after what I went through the first time.

I'll just be hauling my bike, it weighs around 475lbs wet, figure another 500? lbs for the trailer maybe I'm guessing...so well under the tow rating.

I've done a school and a track day already at Willow. The school I rode to, I was ok at the school but got sooo cramped up on the ride home. The track day I loaded the bike onto a tall-*** rented Dodge Ram 1500 and that was such a friggin' pain...I'm definitely towing it next time I go.

Yep, I got an '03 Titanium/black.

Got 700 miles on the clock in the first week - trying to get past the break-in period! Haven't been riding the Duc for a couple of weeks now - might have to take it for a spin this weekend!

Where did you get your M5?

Peter

PS - first mod to the car was the TEC cup holder. I learnt the hard way that the stock cupholders do not stand up to even moderate acceleration. Cost me a trip to the detailers!
