Bye Bye M5

After 3 years, it's time to say goodbye .

Picked up a 996 C2 and a Cayenne Turbo. I know some of you don't really like the Cayenne but it's a great truck with gobs of power and it really blows the X5 4.6is away in terms of acceleration. Cornering abilities are about on par. The 996 C2 on the other hand doesn't feel as fast as the M5 but it does handle like it's on rails.

I still read this board quite frequently, it's still the best one out there.

BTW, there a new silver vision bulb out called SilverFusion. Read about it on Rennlist forums, and they have good things to say about it.

Here's the album to the 996 and Cayenne Turbo

Well, I will try my best to do a short write up on the Cayenne. First, I must say the Cayenne Turbo is really quick and nimble for its size. It's 5000 lbs but the air suspension make it feel like a 4000 lbs car and it has several modes such as comfort, normal and sport with a whole range of ride heights to choose from. It is sort of like the AC Schnitzer DFC suspension set up. The sport mode is really bumpy with almost no body roll. It's a bit too bumpy for normal street driving but good for track (if people would actually bring the cayenne to the track). The turbo has a bit of turbo lag but when the power comes, you get pushed into your seat and you are doing 130km/h in no time. Interior fit and finish is quite good and the backlit instrumentation are absolutely stunning. The brakes are 6 piston in the front and 4 in the back if I am not mistaken and they have crazy amount of stopping power. I haven't measured actual braking distances but it feels like it stops a lot faster then the Carrera and with less pedal effort. One thing I really like is the bixenon headlights that have side pod lights that with light up the side when you turn your steering wheel past certain point. It really makes a big difference when you make lane changes on the highway at night.

It's a very cool car that get a lot more attention on the road then the Carrera

I heard that Cayenne Turbo is faster than current M3 in track!!

I never wanted to have an SUV, but Cayenne is growing on my mind...

Anyways. Good luck with your new cars!!

Well congrats,

I definately think the Cayenne would be the way to go in the SUV world, but don't ever even try to call it a truck!

all the best,
-Pat

I would love to but I am getting married the following weekend so I don't know if I can make it or not.

I will take some more pics after I wash the Cayenne tonight.

amfung: I have the Natural Brown Leather interior for the Carrera.

Great car! The Cayenne Turbo is the way to go with SUV's. The sound should be awesome. Maybe you can post some audio? Video is also welcome ofcourse, but what I've heard, the sound should be immense...

Serge,

The Carrera looks tiny next to the Cayenne in the garage. Love to see more picks of the Cayenne.

Regards,

T.
