What is involved with the dealer replacing the rear window regulator? Would there be any chance that they would remove the horizontal piece of shadowline trim on the outside bottom of the rear window? This piece was damaged at some point and I just realized it. The rear window regulator was replaced in that door but it was about 10 months ago, so the service advisor basically told me to go **** myself and that there is no way they would have removed it. They also activated the rear airbags, perhaps they might have removed it then? The issue is that it looks like it was put on wrong, its all wrinkled, looks like it was bent in several places. The problem is its only noticeable from certain angles. I wanted to speak with the service manager (with whom I have had success before - clutch and wheel replacements) but he was on vacation. I am considering talking with him when he gets back but I want to get some input first. This is a $100 part, and I'll be damned if I have to pay full price when the dealer damaged it themselves. There is NO WAY that it could have been damaged by myself or my dad (prev. owner).
I ordered the part because I am so anal about this car that something that small was driving me nuts, but I really want to take it to the service manager to try to get them to cover at least half of it.
Photo of what I'm talking about (it looks like ripples, like a distortion, basically it looks like the piece was pushed into place about two inches at a time, causing bends in the finish at each point) Sorry for the picture, it's hard to capture it well.
Thanks.
