Your buddy cracks me up, I have one just like him. My buddy Mike, wants an M3 but his budget suits the 330, and he has said that he would probably order it after my Beast arrives.
The difference is, he knows all about the Beast. I think It sounds like a lot more fun if I took someone who doesn't know the Beast.
Congrats to you and your Buddy. I'm still smiling.

Congratulations, Mr. Pennington! Looking good in that ///M Power polo shirt. Thank-you for the funny story and good pictures -- I can practically see the drool from the corners of your mouth as you pose next to your beautiful Beast waiting to unleash her.

What a great colour combination as well (of course I'm a little biased ).
Great write up Matthew - congratulations and welcome to the world of M5 motoring - it only gets better

That silly grin on you face will still be there in 3 years! I can say that from 55,000 miles of experience!
And if you ever feel youself getting bored with it, just drive any other car for a day or two. Then get back inthe M5 and go for a quick drive in some twisties! Man! oh Man, it's fun!
Congrats and welcome to the addiction!

thanks everyone for the encouragement. man, i love this car! i just can't get over it every time i get in it. i'm begging my wife for erands to run! that's when you know you have it bad. the funnest part of the whole thing is having my buddy tell the stories to our mutual friends like it was the time of his life.
By the way, my 1200 mile service went great, the car didn't use any oil during our trip home, and the service department changed the oil for free. They didn't want to at first, but I showed them my 2003 Maintenance Manual where it showed the oil was to be replaced, and even though their own form showed otherwise, they honored the user's manual and changed it for free. Can't beat that.
I found this odd too - no one at my dealership here in Wichita had ever seen Carbon Black before. They practically brought out the whole place to see it. It's fun to see how other people react to MY car. Anyway, no probs so far but again, i'm going to wait another couple weeks and give you my first impressions in another post. (Not that I'll have that much genious insight, but i'll tell you anyway!)
Here's another little detail from delivery... I read somewhere that there was some sort of oily goo that they put on the car during transport. Well, even though the PC detailed the car, that oily gunk was still all over the windows and paint. That stuff is hard to get off, but I did it with tender loving care. Thanks to Pinnacle Sovereign, she's sparkling like a dark blue diamond.
Thanks again all for the comments. This is a great board.

Great write up once again matt.
This is exactly why I am detailing my Beast. What you have just said is testament as to why you should clay bar a brand new vehicle.
If there is still goo they polished over, what else is there. You can be guaranteed there will still be some rail dust.
I understand though, everyone is not a detailing enthusiast as well as a car enthusiast. I just think of it this way. Its another legitamate excuse to spend more time with your car.
It makes the errand runs seem more fesable. I'm out of shampoo, or need a new sponge etc.

Well put, Mr. Pennington!! You had me smiling and laughing aloud as I read your tale. It's been over three years and 55K miles since Ginger walked me through my owner's manual and I got to drive my new Beast from the sparkling delivery pod.
At the time, BMWNA was shooting a professional video to promote the PC Delivery option. They fine Spartanburg folks even sent me a copy of the video for posterity. Just as you noted...every single detail was over the top!
BTW, I took my brother with me to the M5DE, as my wife had no interest whatsoever. We were like two schoolkids. What an incredible experience. Thanks for bringing those memories back.
