Valentine 1 or Escort 8500?

I am looking to get a good radar/laser detector. It is not a clear decision, like any mod I suppose. Lots of board members buy the V1, but is it truely the best detector? Is the Escort 8500 better?

Cheers.

I've used the V1 for years, it's the best.

Never leave home without it.

I have both the V1 and the 8500. I bought them both for comparison purposes and the end result was without question the V1 as being the preferred choice.

Thanks for the quick responses. I wonder if V1 will ever come out with a new model. Now I need to find the best hidden installation method.

Cheers.

M5Ted, I'm keeping the Passport 8500. I use it in my other car. Nice try though...I need to get another V1 for the Mini S.

BeastPower, that's the other nice thing about V1's. They offer an upgrade program for older users. Just go to their website, punch in your serial number and it'll tell you how much it'll cost for you to upgrade yours to the latest version. After that you just pay that fee and send yours in and you get the newer version.

Last I checked, no other radar manufacturer had the same program.

Jason, a mini S??? You got one? I drove one for a couple of days as a loaner and I had a blast driving around in that thing. They're a great little car.

That is a nice feature.

With the various hidden display options for the V1, where was the main unit being mounted so that it could be integrated into the interior, while also maintaining front and rear line-of-sight for correct laser operation?

Cheers.
