The latest Car&Driver magazine suggests 13.4 @ 108 mph

Trouble is, "Pro" driver status doesn't alsways translate to good dragging technique. I have yet to own a (stock) car that couldn't beat any magazine times posted by "Pro drivers". I would guess I have more dragging experience than many of those "Pros". Also, magazines that don't actually run the car at a drag strip have NO BUSINESS REPORTING 1/4-MILE NUMBERS. No home-made or public launch area can compete with the rubber-laden launch area of a well-prepped drag strip. Additionally, my experience with owning a Vericom 200 (a professional "G-Tech" used by magazines) indicates that the "Pro" will be about 0.2 seconds slow on 1/4 mile E.T. if he/she uses such a device to replace the drag strip. This is because of the "roll out" effect of a drag strip's timing lights.

Guys, don't worry - I have no intention of ABUSING my baby-beast. I will launch at about 1750 w/o any clutch riding (slipping), then nail it when the suspension loads up. You can bet I'll be shifting under full power, though - at 6500rpm.

My hero is BlueMax on this board, who with mufflers, CAI and a Dinan Stage 2 chip ran a best of 12.66 (BlueMax, jump in here if I am mistaken). I think that his 15 years of s/c dragster experience may have helped a little bit

Personally, I'll be thrilled if I can "match" the "Pros" 13.3-13.4 my first time out. It takes a lot of runs to get that magical one where everything is just perfect.

-Bill

Time Guess

This sounds like serious fun. Assuming low fuel load (14 tank), reasonable traction, I think a 13.5 would be a good start. If it all hooks up, maybe 13.1 at best.

May the force be with you

My prediction is 13.5 @ 107mph. The engine is too new to get optimal times. The engine needs to be lossened up first. I hope you prove me wrong...good luck!!!

Bill, why are you planning on short-shifting? Out of curiosity?

I can't believe I don't have this memorized yet... but don't our Beasts make max horsepower at almost redline? I want to say 394HP at 7000RPM or at like, 6600RPM...

I'm going to check right now. Perhaps I can answer my own question.

* * *

Got it, yeah, I was right on my second guess... max HP at 6600 RPM. So is that why you're planning on shifting short of redline?

Powerchip

Elevens,

It would be interesting with the extra 1000RPMs that you can get with this chip, to see how it might effect you ET. My redline is 8000RPM and I am can attest that the engine is still pulling hard at 7700RPM. I have not had it above that level yet.

Good luck with those runs.

Mark

My Predictions,

1st Run Ever - 13.4x@107 with extreme wheel hop
2nd Run - 13.3x@ 107-8 with more crazy wheel hop

Driver Lowers Tire Pressure

3rd Run 13.1x@108 still with wheel hop

Driver Lowers Tire Pressure More

4th Run 12.96@109 Not so much wheel hop, but a little clutch abuse

12.98@ 108 mph

hi bill,

i think you can run a high 12 with no problem just watch your 60 foot times and you should be able to do it. remember what i told you about staging it makes a difference.i would mix four gallons of 110 with some 91 is the best mix for my car.my best so far is 12.62 @ 114 with a 60' of 1.803. don't forget about trying different tire pressures to get that 60 ' time.
