      Ventilated seat conversion kits available

Ventilated seat conversion kits are available in the German "Original BMW Teile und Zubehör 2003 BMW 5er-Reihe" catalogue from BMW. (Original BMW parts and accesories 2003 BMW 5-series)

On page 24 in the catalogue:
      Active seat-ventilation
Eight fans in the seat area and back rest blow up to 80 litres of air per minute through the perforated seatcover: increase of comfort in summer through a pleasantly cool seat-temperature.

On page 8 in the separate price list:
      Active seat-ventilation
      5-series (E39)
Complete retrofit kit (only in leather Montana black)
      - for standard seat 82 30 0 142 329 720.00 Euro
      - for standard seat (with padding code F6)
      82 30 0 142 328 720.00 Euro
      - for sport seat 82 30 0 142 330 800.00 Euro

      Retrofit kit, single
(On ordering the seat covers specify colour code)
      - retrofit kit without seat cover
(for one seat; only together with new seat cover)
      82 30 0 142 076 224.00 Euro
      - seat cover standard seat 82 30 0 142 333 700.00 Euro
      - seat cover standard seat (with padding code F6)
      82 30 0 142 332 700.00 Euro

      - seat cover for sport-seat 82 30 0 142 331 800.00 Euro

So if I´m not mistaken, it will cost 1024 Euro per seat + installation. If anyone does this conversion, let us know how it works, please.

      David

The M5 seats aren't the same as the E39 5 series seats. I am not sure this would work.

The sports seats are the ones in the M5, I think. I´ll check if it is compatible with the seat heating.

oooooh, i would love to see how that turns out. does that mean that we would have to remove the fauxstrich (faux ostrich <-----my own made up name there) centers on our seats and replace them with some type of perforated leather?

Yowza. That would make summer here in the Not-too-Deep-but-Still-****-Hot'n'Sticky South much more pleasant.

Earnie, yes the middle leather section is perforated.

Chris, I´ll check about the X5

Pwilliams, Sweden is about as far north as Alaska, and it still gets hot in summer here...

Thanks David. The X5 uses the 3 series seats (if you get the std. seats), so if they have 'em available for the 3 series that would work for hte X5 as well.

      Chris,

About the X5, it seems it will be available, but the people in Germany I talk with, don´t know when.

ventilated seats are awesome, ive used them in a SAAB and in a mercedes benz but they both suck air through the seat, not push air onto you,
Either way they are awesome and could really help down here in the true south, not the east coast people who think they live in the south.
