QUESTION: Where is the battery located in our beasts?...............

Hi Guys,
I was just in my garage "putzing around", checked on my beast and realized, i don't know where the battery is located. I opened the right side panel door located in the trunk but iddn't see it there, unless it shielded by something, which prevents me from viewing it. The reason why I am searching for it, is beacause my car's "battery maintainer" arrived today. It a SURECHARGE IV.
How would one hook up the alligator clips, to keep the battery fresh and to prevent it from dying? Would you hook up the battery maintainer as if your jump starting the car or would you have to make direct contact with the battery???

the battery is in the trunk under the gray liner below the cargo net in the middle.i would hook up your charger to the battery direct with clips (imo).

My delaer always grounds the charger to the screw on the shock tower and sends the positive lead to the the positive battery terminal on the engine block. I don't see a need to hook it directly on the battery.

Obviously you've never looked for the spare tire either then!

ahum...... hint.....hint.............

I've had the car for approx. one month and she has been inside my garage, due to crappy weather conditions. While I am aware that the beast is in my garage, I don't bother with her, just to busy working.

I've always found it most convenient to use the battery + terminal under the hood when I attach my Battery Tender. There's a small bolthead right next to it where I attach the negative lead.

In case anyone hadn't figured this out, the + on the cam cover and the plated nut on the right strut tower are also where you connect jumper cables when jump-starting another car with your M5.

I suppose they're also where you connect cables to the M5 if jump-starting it from another car, but I haven't been in a position to do that yet...

I have. My battery was replaced under warranty. Later on we discovered that it was the climate control that was draining it.

The car's a bastard to jump-start, too. You can't just hook it up and turn the key. I had to jump it from a Chrysler 300M a few times, and each time I had to hook up the cables and let the Chrysler run at about 2000rpm in neutral for about 20 minutes before the M5 would even turn over.

I used to be working all the time too. Then I got my M5. Now all I need is the smallest excuse and I'm off driving somewhere. ("I'm going to the bank - be back in three hours")

And as far as the weather goes. Unless the roads are icy or snow packed I drive the car. If it's bad out I leave the DSC on. If I lived where it snowed all the time I'd look into studded snow tires just so I could continue driving this wonderful car. And by the way, congrats on the new car.
