Service Engine Soon Light

My service engine soon light came on yesterday, only to find out from the dealer that it must be the gas cap, I checked the gas cap and sure enough it wasn't all the way tight, they said if it's not tight it will set off the service engine soon light, they said to tighten the cap and drive a few days and it should go off by itself.

In case you this ever happens to you guys you know what to check first.

I originally thought this was my problem also - the SES came on right after a fill up - reinstalling the fuel cap turned it off for a few days only to have it come back on. So far I have had a exhaust cam sensor replaced. The second time the light came on I had noticeable loss of power and different engine note. Hope yours really was just the fuel cap.
