Call me crazy but I am drving from Denver to Hilton Head, SC. Don't know this part of the country at all, I will be driving through. I am looking for some advice in terms of route. I don't like the major Interstates. Any good side roads you know about? Any parts that I definetly need to avoid. Any help is welcome. If anyone on my way wants to hear the Hamann exhaust system in real life, I will be happy to help to upset your neighbors.
Thanks guys
Claus

What a great drive! You will go Denver to St. Louis (stopping in Kanas City for BBQ at Arthur Bryant's, of course), then to Nashville, Knoxville, Ashville (the trip through the Great Smokies will be breath-taking) and on to Hilton Head.
St. Louis has the Museum of Westward expansion under the Arch, Nashville has great but hard-to-find music scene (skip Opryland). Ashville is a sophisticated and refined center for reited folks.
Consider coming back through Lexington & Louisville, Kentucky and have a look at the horse country.
The roads are generally good, and enforcement is about average. I've driven all that country and it filled with great memories.

I wouldn't do a long trip like this without the Z8. I like to drive her instead of garage the car for its lifespan. I did a couple of longer trips so far; Phoenix and Houston and they have been great.

The trunk of the Z8 is actually not that small. You can fir to golf bags, carry size in it and still ave room below for a regular cary on size suitcase. If you travel with the wife though, you can't bring more than a tooth brush.

Claus, you seem like a nice guy but I think you must be a little nutty. Man, that is one LONGGGGG trip. From here in Atlanta, if you drive Mach II you can be there in 4 hours; and, you definitely need to know that once you are about an hour outside of HH you better slow your butt down as the local cops don't like speeders. I can tell you that if you did not pack your golf clubs you would kick yourself as the entire island is a golfing mecca. If you want some restaurant choices here in ATL for a stopover let me know. I can also get you some references in HH as well. Murph

Claus, first and foremost, if you wanna take a few hours off in Atlanta, you are welcome to join me at my club, The Atlanta Athletic Club. You might remember David Toms past win there. Also, Blue Pointe is the best seafood and hottest women in Atlanta bar none. Bones is the best steakhouse without question. You can pm me if you want to call me about golf, dinner res., place to stay (the Ritz Buckhead is the only choice imho, etc.) Murph
