Tomorrow at 10am (Sunday) on Speedvision, Dream Car Garage is showcasing the Dinan BMW M5...Just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up on the show glowrider. I love Dream Car Garage as it blends traditional supercars with today's latest and greatest. I also like the fact that the fat guy (forget his name) actually discloses driver comfort for those of us that are larger then the norm. This was especially true when they test drove the Porsche GT1, or should I say did not test:hihi: .

Bart, re TiVo to computer:

One way that works is to connect an S-Video cable from the back of the Tivo to the computer. You will also need to connect the left and right sound chanels (white and red ports) on the Tivo to a computer using a standard RCA composite cable. The computer will most likely need a video card w/ TV tuner capability. I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro w/ TV tuner in and out that has an adapter that connects to the video card and has S-vodeo and composite jacks. Just connect the Tivo and the computer, activate your video capture software and then just turn on the Tivo program and you should be able to see the program playing (and simultaneously recording) on your computer. You will have the option of saving the program in different file formats (AVI, MPEG, etc). I use MPEG format if I want to burn a copy of the show to DVD.

Hope that helps,

/Rich

Well, I just saw the show and was a bit dissapointed by the M5 test drive. They talked more about the Dinan S2 package and Dinan rather then the M5. Had a couple good clips of the M5 under hard acceleration but they could have done much more driving of the car.

I, too, just finished watching it. Thanks for the heads-up, glowrider.

The S2M5 segment was about 10 minutes into the 30 min. show and lasted for a scant 2.5 minutes. The red S2 looked gorgeous and sounded good. If only people knew that 470 bhp is too good to be true from Dinan. We still haven't heard if they fixed Paul S's S2, have we?

I laughed at the part where they were driving the Norton automotive product van with the big guy sliding and counter-steering the van all over the snow while the other guy (Peter) was in the back of the van trying his best to present the norton products to the camera while being thrown around as the van went into oversteer and 4-wheel drifts. The big guy is a driving nutcase just like me. I, too, love to "test" an automobile to see what it can do performance-wise no matter how non-performance oriented the automobile is. :hihi:

Total disappointment. They referred to it as "Stage V" mods - but didn't mention headers, or the cost, or supercharger, or ... They talked about suspension mods but didn't even show the car corner - let alone transition from right to left.

They didn't even the obligatory smoky burnout.

Thanks, 2002m5BGM!

Because of you, I remembered to get up today morning, April 12th. Before the 10:30 show, I watched Jay Leno showing off his awesome Jet-engine Bike (what a sound on start-up!!!) on Classic Car show, the new Chrylser Crossfire 6-speed on MotorTrend, and the M3 Testdrive.

In the M3 show, it was fun watching two race-drivers, Tom K. and Bill Auberlin, race each other in SMG vs. 6-speed M3's. They were like two little boys having so much fun, talking to each other on radio while on the track and in the "shower" with the DSC off most of the time. I also got to see the reknown Tom Salkowsky as well as Tom Troy, manager of the Performance Center and some of the driving programs. Of course, the M3 was shown in a positive light with not a single critcism as is expected from a paid program. Anyway, lovely way to start the weekend.

I recorded it on VCR tape. Got tears each of the 4 times I played it back. It was fun, but could have been better.

This is a over-400HP, over $100,000 car designed for performance. And they never took it to the strip or the track? WTF?! They never mentioned the lightened flywheel or the mod to the intake plenum. But with such a short segment, I guess they had to pick-and-choose what to cover.

I'm still shopping for wheels/tires, and those Dinan LW wheels - especially with 275f/285r looked awefully good....

I liked how the "fat guy" never really wiped that s*** eating grin off from his face the whole time. And the Imola Red was just stunning!

"Do you really NEED a car like this? Maybe you do. But if you call yourself a Car Guy, you WANT a car like this..."

The fat/big guy is Tom Hnatiw.
He always does that "Do you need a car like this/ do you want a car like this?" thing. This is the first time he has ever said "Yeah, maybe you DO need a car like this." He is funny.
He is from Canada.
Canadians are funny. ;) ;) ;)
