Ok so my car is a 10/99 build and I have some questions...

It has the old crappy phone installed and I want to remove it soon (buttons get in the way of my elbow). I wanted to know if it is possible to incorporate bluetooth into the car. Also can I add voice recognition? Any good tips or trick to do to the car?

I've got a '00 with a similar build date.

Here's what I learned in researching and doing various updates:
- Headlights are easy. Took about an hour to do the swap. Cost is reasonable.
- You can swap in the larger Nav display and newer NAV systems. Cost is about 3k. Reports on the board indicate its a fairly straightforward swap. Newer Nav systems are faster and easier to use than the MKII systems in our '00's.
- VR, Bluetooth, etc. all require a wiring harness upgrade. I have been unable to locate any documentation on the wiring harness changes. I didn't pursue most of the upgrades & mods I wanted to do in this area because I was unwilling to take on the cost and effort of replacing the harness.
- NavTV seems reasonable, and if you've ever rented a 5 series in Europe and watched the TV while the wife shopped, you've realized just how handy this can be.

If you have the full leather interior you've got a unique package as all subsequent years lacked the full leather dash, etc.; theirs is imitation leather. Just make sure to keep the dash protected from sun and ArmourAll weilding car wash drones.
