Post M5 Sales... A strong farewell

With the E39 platform nearing the end production, 211 savvy beast masters took delivery in March. That's 65 more units than the prior month and nearly double that of March '02.

Will production go thru July or has it already stopped?

The 7 series hit a speed bump in March.

Stay tuned. This story is far from over.

Cheers

Well, they are still in production but I hardly think that that will be true in July. I would expect June to be the last month for E39 in general.
On the other hand with no E60 M production expected immediately, it could be possible that some assets could continue past the cut off date for E39 vehicles since the M factory here in Germany will be under utilized until E60 M5 production is defined.
Guess that would all be determined by customer demand don't think BMW wants to cheapen current asking price by building a supply of cars not already 'sold'.

In Germany, April 7 is the last day to place an order for an E39 M5, according to my sales guy. Apparently, people have already started placing orders/deposits on E60 (not M5). I am also told that June will be the last month the E39 is produced. Incidentally, the Automobile Magazine recently reported that the 4.9 v-8 will not meet the Federal emissions requirement beginning in July.

what I hear is May is the EOP and that demand is still very strong, but since they make the M5 on the same line as the E60, they will have to stop the M5. too bad..... this may be farewell, but never goodbye

I Think MEnthusiast and jb_shin are probably stating the same thing, one has a last date to place an order, the other the last date for production. Anyway you say it the end is near!!!
And for certain the new E60 540 uses the engine now being produced in the 7 series, so it only makes sense that there won't be any new development to that engine for other 5 cars.
