I have seen 4 separate M5's in the last 4 months. One of them I see about every 2 weeks. He must live somewhere in my "hood".

One is Sterling Grey (like mine!). The others were Lemans Blue, White and what appeared to be a very dark grey.

BMW land

Here in BMW Land (Orange County, CA) you would think one would see them all the time. Not true. I see one every other week and thats it. And I have never seen another Imola Red one on the road. Exclusivity, well at least color wise. I see way more MB E55s than M5s. Boring.

Re: BMW land (revisited)

Here in the Dallas area, every third car seems to be a BMW. If it's not a BMW, it's a MB. If not an MB, it's something else. Thousand's of 3's, hundreds of 5's and 7's are seen about town. However, I rarely see anything M'd. I did see a spankin' new black or carbon black M3 last night. He blew right by me like I was sitting still. Since the wife and kids were in the car, I pretty much was. I've seen three M5's in the past few months.

I agree with Terk. Don't see any M5s out and about but on rare occasions, and we put on at least 350 miles driving around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area just on the weekends!

I had the best M5 "sighting" of all 10 days ago in the front lot of my dealership, though. As I am walking out the front door after picking up my plates I see a menacing looking Carbon M5 pull up with obvious after-market exhaust(Supersprints with X Pipes) and 19" SSR GT3 wheels. Very nice The driver wore a Ralph Schumacher BMW-Williams F1 cap so I am thinking to myself he must be a hardcore enthusiast. Turns out he is none other than MPower1, a fellow board member!

So in the end it really does not matter how many M5s I see while driving around. Meeting just one M5 driver who shares the same passion is infinitely more rewarding than any sighting out on the roads.

Rowland, greetings from the family, and I'll probably see you at the Dinan Tech session on Saturday
