How do you carry your BMW key? Keyrings? Keycase?

I used to have a keycase but the BMW key was just too big. I liked how a keycase prevents the keys from digging into your pockets and legs. Drawback of a keycase was their bulky size, almost like carrying a small wallet.

I know some men have all their keys on a ring and just take it out of their pockets and put them on the table where ever they are. That doesn't feel comfortable to me . . . may forget them etc.

Others use a 2 key ring system so that they can keep their keys in their pockets. The 2 key rings spreads out the bulk. Anyway, what's your system of carrying your keys?

In Italy, it's acceptable for men to carry around a small wrist purse, which I suppose is one solution.

strip of leather??

and by the way, what's the function of the strip of leather that comes with the BMW keyholder. can't figure out its function. don't know how it's supposed to be installed either. there were no instructions that came with my BMW keyholder. please help, but please don't call me dumb even if i am.:confused3

I'm not absolutely sure about that strip of leather, but I've seen it used to hold the key (i.e. it is that strip that goes through your key whole, not the plastic thingy. Then that strip is attached to that plastic thingy and there ya go).

I have a leather key case for my house keys, etc. Car key is separate. A bit bulky, so I usually leave my house keys in the car if I don't have some sort of bag/suitcase with me.

Okay, it's not the most inspired "carrying system", but it works :p

I have been trying to come up with a solution for the past 10 years. I hate carrying keys around, as it is enough to carry a wallet, PDA and cell-phone. I really like the "Keyster" made for VW and Audi car keys. It clips onto the belt and holds the key like a pager. Nice idea, but I have not seen anything like this for BMWs.

Cheers.

The SO and myself both use the BMW Loop Lock Key Ring (sorry, I can't make the link to it work, but go here and search .BMW Lifestyles USA )

Its stretchy so it'll give as needed if the keys are bunched in your pocket in a weird way. They've held up extremely well; the rubber is very tough and the BMW logo is etched, not inked

i just carry the key with a ///M5 keychain that i got last Xmas and a BMW teardrop that i've had for 12 years and been saving for when i bought this!

i never drive it to work cause it's so close (4 miles) and i use the universal transmitter to open the garage to the house so no other keys necessary!

Ref the leather strip

The little leather strip issued with your key case is to allow you to add more keys via a key ring. To make it work first fold the strip so the two holes are together. Next place the nylon / plastic stud through the BMW key holder, place one key inside and the folded leather loop. Fold the BMW key holder over all of this and place nylon / plastic cap on the stud. :)

M Power keychain!!!

a lot of people have M5 keychains for their M5 keys.. I don't see the point of people who put their car keys all in one bunch.. it would be a pain if you loose that....

My Keychain

I have me M5 key and other keys on a M5 Cable Chain, that has screw ends. It is easy to use (I hated ruining fingernails, trying to get the standard metal circle open).

I have had to 'Lock-Tite' the screw ends to keep them from unscrewing... just a little and it requires that extra pressure to unscrew the ends...

This was given to me by my wife :D at Valentine's Day... It was her way of letting me know it was now OK for me to get the M5.

One month later...

I use the M5 Leather Insert Key Ring shown here. My employees gave this to me for a present. I like it because it is safely held dangling from your belt. I put the M5 logo rectangle between my belt and the pants between the left pocket and the zipper so I'm always aware of it. Keeps it out of the pocket. I don't put anything else on the key ring. Keep my other keys on a separate ring and leave them in the car in that small place in the center console with the roll door. Works for me.

I use the same leather-insert tag that Jim Dolan has. It has a car key and a house key, and that's all.

Now if we could just use our fingerprint instead of keys, that would be so much easier to carry around :hihi:.
Think about what would happen if you were carjacked. A guy busts into your car with a gun and a pair of surgical shears... (shudder)

How do I carry my M5 key? But of course in one of those large metal silver colored hard cases that typically holds expensive video equipment, and inside is all charcoal colored foam with the key indentation in the center to hold the key, with two combination locks to secure the container and then the same is handcuffed to my arm 24/7, except when driving of course.

:blabla: :hihi: :D  mmmmmm :hihihi:

Zero Halliburton Case

Sooooo... where did you get that brushed aluminum case for the M5 key?

Does it come with a little handle and a three digit combo lock like the big cases?

:D

i use a "valet" keyring, with all my house keys on the "normal" side and the //M key on the valet side.

slide out the car key, leave the rest in the center console storage. and i'm good to go.*
