Post aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhhh

Would you folks up north PLEASE take back all the old people who come to South Florida during the winter. I just had some old lady back her car into my M5 sitting at a light waiting to turn left. No, she did not do any damage, not even a scratch. I did however experince an increased heart rate as she tapped my bumper while my horn was blaring and I was about to reverse out of her way. What really got me though was she did not stop or ask if there was any damage, old cowbag just drove away.

Thanks for letting me vent, I feel soooo much better now.

I try to steer clear of those folks when I'm down there. I'm always on the lookout for cars where the driver is not visible, or just the hands are. . The non-stop turn signals are another good clue.

Sometimes we're just at their mercy.

Luckily no dammage done!

I don't know how you guys in Florida deal with it. Which is worse? All the white/blue haired ladies who go 15 mph under the speed limit, or all the foreigners who don't know how to read the signs? It's anarchy driving down there.

Lear,

Sorry to hear about your scrape with the "Blue Hair"! Glad you didn't have any damage, but what a pain in the butt!

Some 10+ years ago I was visiting my mom and her across the street neighbor lady (about 65 at the time) backed into my driver's door with her 1964 Chrysler! Guess who lost out.

It's the only damage my '81 has had, new door was never completely right, and I still get pissed every time I see her "Rat Bastard Tank".

Anyway...gald yours is OK.

I dunno about the old folks, but the young ones can be pretty bad too. About 9 years ago, I was sitting in a new 325i, behind this nissan pickup at a stop light. We were both on the right-most lane, but not near the curb. The driver, who seemed to be lost, backs up at high speed, destroys the front of my car, and was ready to make a right turn when he realizes what he had done.

He was an 18 year old, ready to go to college. His father was a cop, who handled this professionally, but I'm sure that the son was not allowed to take the car to school...the damages cost close to 10K to fix.

No offense, but I am surrendering my driver's license when I turn 70.

Lear,

The 'season' is almost over, and the blue-hairs will all go back to playing bumper tag in NY & NJ (watch out Blue Max!).

When standing still, we're all sitting ducks. Luckily, we have the power to dodge 'em when in motion.

And for SteveP: you should come down some time ... all this evasive driving really hones your skills!

Hope the damage (if any) was minimal Lear.

Regards,

Drew.

Thanks for all your kind words. I washed the car this morning, I will flat out deny that though if you guys call the water police in south fla. No visible damage, and everything lines up at it should, I will use this as a learning experience and remember next time to give the blue hairs a 100 yard lead.

Happy motoring.

I'll bet even money you won't do it. Nice sentiment though

lear, I know how you feel. That's how I got rear ended in the Merc which led to the Wreck Check claim. I got so pissed I put my anger into research and got compensated. Thank God you don't have to do that.
