UPDATE: Dinan is coming out with a "add on" part for their CAI system...........
Hi Guys,
I just got off the phone with "Eric" of Dinan corporation.
If you guys recall, Paul S. AKA: GermanSedanFan, brought his M5 to Dinan to have it dynoed, to check out his S2 package. If you guys recall, Paul mentioned that Dinan made a hole next to the fog light assembly area to allow more air to enter the Dinan CAI air filter, similar to a "Ram Air" affect. They are currently making some type of "kit" that will go into the area of the fog light. It will be some type of Ram Air hole for the air filter and it will be part of the Dinan CAI, once it comes out. Anyone interested in this part will be able to buy it seperately and add it to your Dinan CAI system. Eric stated it was a few weeks away from being released. Any comments on this?
Thanks guys.
Robert
Wait a second here... FAST 5 called and is considering a Dinan product?
The "sock" is waterproof. The ram air effect is not dynoable. It's for the street. It looks cooler to have that duct open like the M3 anyway. Can't really tell a fanny dyno difference, it probably helps a little.
sounds good... this is the second time that Dinan had upgraded their CAI since initial release.... last time they changed the temp sensor portion and added some heat shielding to it

LOL.................
Im caving in, to the masses! hehehe..........
Seriously, I spoke with my SA and he strongly advised me NOT to do ANY mods to the car, telling me its more trouble and risk than it is worth. He also said, that if I felt compwelled to do mods to the car, my best chance of not getting hasseled by BMWNA would be if I went with Dinan. So i've beed doing some research on what they offer. hey Paul, I heard that Dinan offers a 10% discount to CCA members. What the skinny on this? Would you please fill me in, on what you know? Please be detailed as possible, since I'll use your info. to approach a Dinan dealer and ask for this 10% discount. Thank you very much for your assitance.
Robert
Hi Robert, remember that if you mod the car you will probably not get any $ back when you sell it or you may get less. You can keep the stock parts if are inclined to put it back to stock and have a big enough garage/basement/attic.
As you know, I have had good experiences with Dinan and their products. I like the chip, exhaust, 3.45 diff, and stage III suspension.
Dinan doesn't offer 10% CCA discount, your dealer would. So they would absorb the discount not Dinan.
What???!!! Steve Dinan is catching up with Active Autowerkes CAI/brake ducting that already has ram air and baffling to prevent water intake???!!! Humm...$1000 a side you say? Interesting when you can get the whole AA system for under $1000.
What's wrong with this picture?

Perhaps you can do a side at a time . Now maybe this will make the car go around in circles! Better yet, do one right in the middle and you will only need one.
Of course you could just do the Autowerke CAI for less than one side mentioned above. It works for me.
