I asked about this before I got it. The sales manager said "You can expect 15-20 miles, don't worry we won't drive your car". This made me worry. I asked my sales person any problems with the service folks putting undue miles on? He said "Well, the M5 is kind of exotic and everyone wants to drive it. I have not even driven one yet". I didn't feel any better.

It came in on July 3 (wednesday) and they called me at 4:30 in the afternoon to tell me. I guess they thought I could wait until the following Monday to pick her up but there was no way. I told the sales manager we were leaving first thing in the morning for a trip to Maryland, and I wanted the car. He called back and told me I could have it at 6pm When I went in it only had 3.5 miles on it, basically the service shop is about 3 miles down the road. His last words were enjoy it on your trip, vary your speeds. To which I replied "Oh, we are taking the suburban. This baby is gonna be in my garage". You should have seen the look on his face

Since this is my first new car, I emailed BMWNA about it. Their response:

I am with BMW of North America, LLC and your
email has been forwarded to me for response. I would
say that there should be no more than 10 miles on
your vehicle. If there are more miles I would
ask your center for details of why the mileage is
on your vehicle.
