WAHOO! The BEAST is on the truck!

Finally, the waiting is almost at an end! She's shipped out of NJ as of yesterday. Probably somewhere in Ohio or Indiana today. I'm planning on doing some calling around to see if I can figure out the exact date of delivery, as the BMWNA folks don't seem to have that info

Once I determine the date of delivery I'll probably take the day off so I can wait at the dealership for the truck! Disturbed? You bet, but how is one to concentrate at work anyways, knowing that one's dream car has finally been delivered and is at the dealership?

IF THIS IS A SICKNESS, I DON'T WANT THE CURE!!!

Congrats

Congratulations ... my car completed production on the 14th and is now awaiting a train to take it to port for shipment. I am told by the dealer that it will be around another 30 days to arrive in Minnetonka. My wait is almost over ...

so give me timelines man:

when was it off the boat
when did it go into the VPC
when did it get out the VPC
when did it get on the truck

did you get a Port Check from the VPC?

the wait is almost over for you!

Chip, 30 days seems to be slightly optimistic, but in the right ball-park. My car was completed on the 15th of January, and was just shipped out from NJ yesterday, no doubt delayed by the storm! It should arrive in Minnesota this week yet, if all goes well.

Some of us have found it helpful during the wait to track the car's progress by calling the BMWNA 1-800 number, and I'm sure others would rather NOT think about it at all

Al,
That's great news. I think it's a good idea to be there when they unload it, not just for the thrill of it, but also to make sure they're careful with your car. That's how the Cobra got damaged--by the transport driver unloading it from the truck. Sorry, I hope this doesn't make you paranoid or anything. I've never seen a BMW prepped (unfornately, we never had the chance), but with our other vehicles, we always have them save any paperwork, decals, wrappings, etc. that come with the car and would ordinarily be thrown out, just to drool on them, too.

Congrats Chip.. just don't get too optomistic abt the delivery ..

My car was offloaded on Feb 12th in NJ..
But.. it has still not yet gone to the VPC

So enjoy your baby when it gets there.. I am still fretting away. Candidly, I am not too mad, because the snow here on the east coast will not allow me to play safely...

So, hopefully I can look forward to a MAr 1st delivery date.. but I am not holding my breath...

I am happy for you....

I am also envious because my baby hasn't even made it to the VPC. Still sitting on the port according to BMWNA.. It's only 7 days after being unloaded.. why am I being so impatient.. Hah, if only those telephone jockeys knew...

Enjoy !!!!

Thanks to all for your indulgence in my excitement.

hornsch, if it's a timeline that you want, a timeline you shall have:

Arrival/Offloaded NJ: Feb. 5(right on schedule)
Transferred to VPC: Feb. 11
Released from VPC to carrier: Feb. 13
Shipped out from VPC: Feb. 18(no doubt delayed by storm)

Your car should not have as much of a delay getting from port to the VPC. Port check in progress...

Anita, I guess great minds think alike I AM paranoid enough that I want to observe the off-loading process to put everyone on guard, from the truck-driver to the folks at the dealership taking delivery. I am extremely detail oriented and don't miss anything(they already know that), but nothing beats being there in person. I always save everything, just as you do, and archive it all

M Power, I bet your baby is being transferred over to the VPC as we speak. The VPC is adjacent to the docks/storage facility from what I was told, and one week seems to be the turnaround time for clearing customs and transferring over to the VPC. I'm sure the storm delayed things a day or two. Your car should clear the VPC in just 1-2 days, and then out to you probably before the end of next week, I'm guessing

Terk, glad to see that your car is also on the final leg of its long journey I agree about the snow melting just in time, but the dirt and gravel that remain behind are more menacing to our babies What we need are a few good rain showers once it warms up and to have the street sweepers out doing there thing...
