Accelerator response?
Every time I hit the pedal, the car seems to hesitate for half a second and then you get full respons from the engine.
Doesnīt seem to be right. Has had it all the time since I bought the car.
It has 46500 km on the clock. No vanos upgrade or anything. Itīs standard except for the Schnitzer top speed delimiter.
Any ideas whatīs the problem with her?

Yes itīs there all the time.
I donīt noice it if Iīm driving gently.
But every time I accelerate with the pedal somwhere halfways to the floor itīs there!
Not sure about SPORT. Have to check it out.

yes, let us know. i was thinking something as simple as the fuel but it has been happening since you have bought the car. maybe it still has to do with the fuel system. what yr is it? maybe take it to the dealer if no one can come up with the solution?

Itīs a 2000 and just made the Inspection I.
One idea was that maybe it was the fuel filter.
Donīt know if they change that at the Insp I?
Maybe I have to take it to the dealer for a thorough look with DIS?
Itīs got the right performance, but itīs annoying to have this hesitating every time you want to floor it.
Maybe it adds some tenth to the 0-60 time?

I notice the same thing, but only with sport off. I just assume it's the software clipping me. I always switch to sport and try a couple of more times to assure myself that there is nothing wrong, and that is always it.
Don't you hate when one of those moments come, you hit it, and BOOM - dsc cuts ya down . Between the sudden cut, and the anticipation of hard acceleration, it's enough to send you flying towards the windshield.

Back from testdrive:
Seems like the phenomenon is below 1500 rpm at high gear.
No difference with or without SPORT.
Spoke to a couple of owners that seems to have the same problem.
Dealer says itīs normal!

One of the best things about an M5 is its instantaneous throttle response. There should be no lag.
Now, just to rule out other possibilities - if you're doing this at, say, 3000 RPM in 1st, there's a good chance the tires are simply getting overwhelmed and spinning until DSC shuts you down. that wouldn't be the case, right?
Does this happen from any RPM? In any gear?

Greg:
Just as you say, the instantaneous response is the lovely thing with the beast.
As I said just happening below 1500 rpm, and in any gear .
What to do?
Nothing to do with DSC, I know for sure there have never been any DSC light/action involved.
Just came in from a testdrive.

Is most of your driving around town - reason I ask is that mine needs a real blast from time to time to clear the "lungs". Responsiveness is better after some long, fast driving. Mine occasionally bogs down but usually because I'm in the wrong gear!

Mostly calm driving in and out of town with a lot of traffic.
Too little spirited driving, sadly!
Maybe it is as my younger friend told me, " you have to give it a blast every day"
Gas price is not in the right direction for this now here in Sweden, around 4.5 dollars per gallon
But who cares, have to drive anyway.

Cidair,
When you compare sport on/off, do you get any difference in the throttle mapping (how much throttle per unit accelerator pedal movment) below 1500 RPM?
If you criuse along at 1000 RPM in 4th SPORT off, and the swithch SPORT on, do you feel an instant power increase?
David
