I ordered today too! At MSRP in Los Angeles!

After an 11 month wait, my number finally came up for a March build! I feel great about getting a Beast at MSRP. I ordered Carbon Black, Black Nappa Point with aluminum trim, fold down seats and Enhanced M audio. A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread on whether the M audio was worth the cost - what an overwhelming positive response! Thanks for the advice everybody. Now for the wait I am not sure yet which week in March my build is scheduled for. Worst case I should have it for my birthday the first week of May.

Richard,

Congratulations. It looks like your perseverance paid off. BTW what dealer in L.A. did you order from?

Crevier. I was unable to find any other dealer in California that would commit to MSRP.

For the very reason you stated I ordered mine through Crevier also, Sept 5, 2000. Were you able to take a test drive of an M5 while you were waiting for yours to come in? It would be worth my driving down there if I could.

Congratulations to you. Your moving up to the actual picking of options stage gives me great encouragement!

Yep, RGCohen is correct, Crevier is the only dealer that I am aware of out here that will order at MSRP. I have been on the list since July of 2000 for my second M5.

CAH, if I get an allocation from one of my out of state dealers before the Crevier allocation comes up, you can have mine and move up a few places. For that matter, since I have 5 on order, you can take one of the other allocations from out of state and get the car even faster. My only requirement will be that you have to attend our little get together in the summer. No, I am not looking for any money for my allocations. Give me the deposit back that I have up and the spot is yours. All of these cars are at MSRP.

BTW, RGCohen, congradulations on the order.

RG,

Congratulations! Yesterday was a GREAT day! It might be fun to compare our production numbers, build dates etc through the actual delivery to the dealers....mine will take longer to get to my door since it will have to be trucked out from Nashville (oh well).

Carbon Black is an excellent color, probably would have chosen it if we didn't already have two black cars. Really like the blue highlights!

Got on list at Nashville 5/23/00, so almost exactly 8 months to order. Was told I was 7th and that they did about 1 car per month.

Did you get on Crevier's list last Feb? I'm really happy that you had a good experience and that your Number came up!

I got on list at Crevier on 6/6/00 at sales person's suggestion...she said "See which one comes in first". Was told I was "about 20th" and that they did 3-4 cars per month. Checked in Sept and I "was about 18th". Didn't press issue since it seemed like things were moving better in Nashville.

Early Jan I asked for an Actual and was told 22nd!! I should have moved up at least 12 to 15 spots by that time. When Nashville called me and said I was next, I cancelled the spot at Crevier and they returned my deposit with no problems.

CAH: The only point of relaying this info is to suggest that you really stay on top of the list and where you are on it. If I were local maybe it would have been different, but I could only guess. Good luck and please keep us posted to your list and order status!

Chuck,
No, I haven't been able to test drive an M5. Wish I could have. Since they all seem to be presold or inside the showroom at $20k over sticker, how could I?
Their waiting list system at Crevier does seem to work. Month by month I kept track of my place in line with the help of my salesman. There was only one moment of doubt when someone who had passed for a couple of months came back to take the sole car available that month. However, I did remember that I moved up an extra notch one month based upon my place in line and the number of cars allocated.
Anyone had delivery or service experiences at Crevier they can share?

Alan,

Check the shipping times from www.wlna.com between New York (actually the New Jersey BMW East Coast Vehicle Preparation Center) to Port Hueneme (I think the only West Coast BMW VPC). I heard that you can have your car delivered to your local dealer even though you ordered it elsewhere - at no additional charge to you. I would think that the delivery times would be similar (NJ to Nashville to CA versus the extra boat ride to Ventura to ?). My anxiety would be the trucking company taking your car across country. BTW - What's the cost to you?

Steve

Niello BMW in Sacramento also sells the M5 at MSRP if you are willing to wait.

Richard,

I had my 1200 mile check done by Crevier as well as my shift knob replaced when it began to peel. The car was not purchased at Crevier, but the service was outstanding. I have no complaints and would rate them very high.
