Exclamation Carbon Fiber Hood - Group Buy

Carbon Fiber Hood - Group Buy

We have a group buy being organized for 10 individuals. At this time there are 7 confirmed, and we are looking for 3 more individuals to participate.

        Hood Details:
        - Fits all e39 M5's.
        - Incorporates a powerbulge (similar to the e46 M3).
        - Incorporates functioning vents (similar to the e46 M3 GTR but with thinner louvers, and maybe with each of the 4 vent units being inserted from the top for easy replacement). Final details to be provided soon.
        - Optional under-hood vent covers will be available to limit water entry (the price has yet to be determined).
        - The hood will be delivered ready to install using existing hood hardware.
        - All holes will be pre-drilled and threaded for easy installation, and all recesses and cavities will be pre-fabricated. Does not include BMW hood emblem, small upper vent, kidney grilles, wiper jets, underhood carpeting. For installation, one will have to remove the parts from the stock hood and install them on the CF hood.
        - Raw carbon fiber finish, which is ready for painting (clearcoated CF is an option at an additional cost). The surface is being prepared for painting, so clearcoating is not advised. If you would like a clearcoated hood, this must be specified at the time the order is placed.
        - Painting of the hood at most professional high-end body-shops is $550, and blending in of the fenders is recommended.
        - The hood is expected to weigh about 17lbs (the stock hood weights approximately 60lbs). Exact numbers will be provided shortly.
        - Expected delivery time-frame 60 days from start of project.
        - This project is limited to 10 orders.
        - Future projects will be priced differently, and are expected to be priced higher.
        - Shipping will be charged at a later date, once it has been verified. You will be contacted to make payment for the shipping.
        - Price: US$1,495 (not including shipping).

        Vendor Information:
        - BeastPower Motorsports, Inc.
        - This company is owned by DDM5 (me) and was formed to help coordinate the custom fabrication of specialty e39 M5 performance parts.
        - Website: www.beastpower.com

        Fabricator Information:
        - Fabricator brand name: Aerotechniques.
        - The company producing the hood has been in business since 1960 and has the following racing experience:
-- 1990 - win BMW CCA autocross championship.
        -- 1995 - 3rd place in SCCA ITB.
        -- 1996 - 4th place in SCCA ITB.
-- 2002 - 1st place in BMW CCA North American Challenge.
-- 2002 - Fran-Am 1600 sweeps podium in inaugural series event and first formula car outing.
        -- 2002 - takes Fran-Am 1600 Series Championship.
        - Technical specifications of fabricator's production materials and process are expected within the next few days.

Example of e46 M3 CF Hood Made by Fabricator:
This hood is for a race-car and therefore does not have the level of finish that we are getting in the group-buy.

        2) FAST 5
        3) MIB
        4) TriflowM5

alpina b3, I am doing this first group buy for 10 units. Future individual hoods are going to be available, but the price will be higher, unless there will be another group of 10 buyers. We are getting a lower price with the current group buy due to volume.

Other hood designs will also be available in the future.

        Cheers.

        carbon fibre hood

Yeah, go DDM5, I,m hoping there are another 3 M5 owners out there with the foresight to see that the price of a professionally prepared C.F. hood isn,t going to get any cheaper, and for those wishing to keep their E 39,s in favour of an upgrade to to a less lovable E60 M5 they just might want to upgrade their performance. That = heat generation; therefore =vents. Just wait until you get a quote for vents to be installed into the existing hood! Then this deal; light-weight and attractive,if not distinctive, looks good. Grab it while you can, I say!

        C/F M5 Mirrors

        Hey Daniel, just another thought.

I have M5 Mirrors on my 540i. I will probably sell it soon, so I can put the stock mirrors back on it.

I may be willing to do a deal, where the fabricator can have these mirrors to trash and make the mould.''

What do you think.? I'd like to keep the stock shape. Most of the race car C/F mirrors look cheap and not funtional for street.

        Clear coated silver C/F Mirrors.

        Hey MIB,

Thats a nice idea. I will get a price on the mirrors in black and silver clearcoated CF as a first step. Thanks for offering your M5 mirrors. I will let you know once I get pricing.

        Cheers.
