Post Attn: Bob Uenaka

I saw the pictures of your silverstone/black in the gallery. That is exactly the combination I am considering as I come to order spec. time. Are you still happy with that combination? Do you have the all black sport seats or the black luxury seats? (Is there a difference?). Did you consider the walnut trim versus the bruyere trim? Does silverstone usually appear light blue or silver? Are there any issues you think I should consider as I finalize my selections?

Sorry for so many questions. But, it is hard to see many of the M5s here in Virginia. So, I am relying a lot on pictures to help with selections. The silverstone looks great in pictures. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Hello,
The period before you place your order is a very exciting time with lots of decisions to make. I'll be happy to take more pictures if you would like.

Exterior:
I selected Silverstone mainly because I didn't want the high maintenance of a darker color (I liked Anthracite) and my previous car was silver and I was tired of it. Also, Silverstone (at least when I ordered) was an exclusive M5 color. It's definitely a light blue and NOT silver as the name suggests. I'm very happy with the combination although I sometimes wish I had ordered Royal Red just because I see so many black, silver, and blue M5's around here. (BTW, Royal Red is now offered on all 5 series)

Interior:
I think the Walnut Burl is probably a more "classic" look as opposed to the Bruyere Club which may look dated as time goes by because of it's orangish/yellow hues... just my opinion.

I ordered the Black Nappa Heritage Leather interior know as the "Exclusive" all leather interior. I believe this is now known as the "Luxury" interior. I highly recommend this "Luxury" interior as it is a no-cost option that will get you an incredible amount of hand stitched leather throughout the interior. Door panels, dash, visors, transmission tunel... it's all in leather. The "Sport" interior has much less leather and I understand that it is the same as any 5 series interior.

If you enjoy listening to music, than the sub-woofer option is nice for 2001. For me, I'd rather listen to the engine so fancy stereos have never been high on my list. I think the split, fold-down rear seats and PDC are useful features to have.

I hope this helps!
Bob

Headhunter,

If you haven't already done so, check out the post "Difference in Comfort between Sport and Exclusive (Luxury for '01) Interiors". Italia has posted two perfect pictures of the two interiors right out of the BMW///M Brochure. These were exactly the pics I was thinking of when I read your post, but not tech enought to get it done!

Good luck....the Silverstone is great and so is the Anthracite! Can't go wrong!
