Nice wheels! Although the design is getting too common!

Agree with you Gustav

If I were to spend money on my car, 2 of the things on top of my list are:
1- Racing seats to save weight (I like those Porsche Gt3 seats)
2- Lighter wheels to save unsprung weight

Maybe the look of the BBS wheels are old but they look classy.
They look bussiness IMO.
I love SSR GT3s, but they are not this light I think.

How heavy are Dinan lightweight Wheels DDM5??

Personally I'd prefer something like this on an M5...

greco 540- excellent choice! the new fikse profil 5s! i love the look and it is available in 18" and 19" i've been looking at those same wheels for my porsche.
pride355, the dinan's are 17.5 and 18.5 lbs. although the 19"s for the m3 are a couple of lbs more than that.
kkelly, you and i think alike.
take a look at your oem m5 rims everyone. notice a cross spoke design?
the pre-production m3 csl's are running the rgr's. i guess bmw doesn't care to be bling bling on the 'ring.

Well, then they are heavier than these:

RE 649 18×8.5 52 5/130.0 PFS 7.0kg that's 15.4 lbs!

RE 650 18×10.0 65 5/130.0 PFS 7.5kg that's 16.5 lbs!

And I don´t see why BBS should change their design. These wheels are timeless and look very good on many cars+they are very strong, extremely good quality and are very light. In fact BBS offer other designs too but these are the most popular and makes BBS one of the most profitable companys in the business. BBS also makes wheels for Daimler-Chrysler, Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, BMW and Audi for example not to mention all the racing wheels they do.

Thank you Paul and DDM5..

Then I can't see how come 15.4 lbs and 16.5 lbs BBS wheels can be heavier than Dinan Lightweight wheels as Mr. Janne stated.

Whats the reason we cant use racing wheels on normal cars? Are the alloys too soft to cope with daily driving?

he was stating to ddm5 that the magnesium wheels are lighter than the dinan's. and ddm5 was surely stating that the bbs aluminum, not magnesium wheels are heavier than the dinan's.
although they are basically the same weight. the bbs ones are cheaper though.
fyi, dinan's wheels are made by speedline in..... you guessed it, japan!

finality, magnesium wheels aren't as strong and therefore more likely to bend on the street.

Then it is the driver's/owner's problem. Why should they be illegal to use on streets just because they are more likely to bend on street. Then why not 19" or 20" wheels aren't illegal for street driving. They are also more likely to bend, too.

Paul, thank you for your kind explanation. I know what Mr. Janne states. Just want to point out that BBS mag. wheels are in fact LIGHTER than Dinan LTWs. However as you said DDM5 probably did refer to alum. BBS wheels.
