Post I will probably sell my car!

Hi all!

This is bad news based on good news, so don't feel sad for me
because I am not

Some of you have seen that I have not been so active here
lately. The reason is because I am commuting to Finland every
week to a job I really love. Just recently I got an offer for a
much higher and nicer position, but the problem is that it
requires a more permanent precense from my side. I will still
have my house in Sweden, but will be spending MUCH more
time in Finland.

Some of you might now be asking why I don't import the car
to Finland? Well...the answer has two sides. First of all the
traffic here in Helsinki is crazy. I wouldn't want to drive my baby
here. Second of all the tax laws in Finland are crazy! If I import
the car from Sweden, I have to pay taxes to Finland in the
amount of the remaining value of the car! This means more or
less paying twice for the same car. If you buy a new car in
Finland, you pay 100% of it's value also in taxes to the state.
So...I will not be importing the car!

This means that my baby will be sitting in the garage without
being driven at all, and that is a waste of car, to be honest. I
am not in a hurry to sell the car, so I am starting with these
pages to see if somebody here is interested or knows of
somebody who is interested. If I don't find somebody here,
I'll use normal adds closer to spring.

So...what type of car do I have? The car is originally a BMW M5
from 2000, but has been lowered and tuned. I am selling the car
with two sets of rims and tires. The summer tires are 20" Pirellis
on Hartge Nova 7 rims and the winter tires are 17" Bridgestones
on BMW M spokes (66). The car has the Kelleners exhaust
including sport cats. With the car I am also selling ALL the
original parts, so if the new owner wants to go back to stock,
he/she can do that. I have the original cam shafts, all the
original suspension parts and all the original exhaust parts.
Including myself the car has had two owners who are pedantic
with their cars (yes, I am pedantic with it). The car is in perfect
condition, except for an interior door handle that I need to
change as it broke during one of these very, very cold days
here in Sweden.

Being that this car is more than just a normal M5 and that it also
is in perfect condition, I am asking a little bit more of the normal
price as I also include all the stock parts in the deal. In Sweden,
an M5 from 2000 and with these miles on it goes for just a
bit below 400.000 swedish crowns. I am asking 435.000 swedish
crowns for my baby (about 47.300 Euros or 43.500 USD). The
car has 85000 km (about 53000 miles) on the clock. You can
see pictures of it by following the link in my signature.

If anybody here is interested in the car or knows about somebody
that might be, please mail me at:

fedde_engler@yahoo.se

to see if we maybe can arrange something.

Best regards,

Fedde

Actually my father (finnish, like me too) did the same thing couple years ago, because a Swedish company did offer a higher position. So he did spend much more time in Sweden.

The taxes are almost unbelievable. New M5 costs 110000 euros. D*mn it.

Sweden is very fine country, Finland is...well it's pretty good after all.

Hope you can sell the M5 to a true enthusiast.

Is it not possible to drive the car to Finland, keep it at your place there, but not get Finish plates, etc? Since you can drive a car around Europe, is there anything that prevents this?

Tfung: The finnish authorities have thought about that. You can do that for a very short limitted period of time. It even gets
worse if you actually live in Finland (as I do now)

But I did think of that too

Exclamation Check the tax situaton!

It is my understanding that if you formally move to Finland setting up permanent residency there, you can bring your car tax exempt. I know for sure that this is a case for Finish citizens who have lived abroad and then moved back home with their car that was purchased abroad. I guess it will depend on your formal status in Finland wether you are permant or not.

Nevertheless, I hope you will continue to enjoy Helsinki. I moved to the States in 1977 and miss home every once in a while (but not the taxes...)

Kippis!

Hi Fedde!

Sad to hear that you are selling your baby.

I think you have priced it right. No need to go lower in price on that nice car with all the mods.

Bought my 2000 M5, oct -02, with 38.000km for 449.000:- SEK stock, except for Schnitzer chassi.

Have a question on the Hartge 20" wheels. They look just smashing on the M5. I´m just in the process of buying a set of used ones of these wheels to my car ( hopefully the present owner will let them go to me ).

Mine is lowered with the Schnitzer chassi. Did you have to do anything to the wheel arches or did they fit without mods?

Grateful for your thoughts about this.

Are you perhaps interested in selling your wheels??

Musta1000: As I am not considered to be permanent as I am still
commuting, I did not get that chance. I have to pay to enormous
taxes if I want to bring the car in.

Cidair: There were no modifications needed for the wheels,
except that in low velocity, you hear them scratch slightly in the
front when you make sharp turns. Thanks for asking me about
the wheels, but I am interested in selling the car as a package
as it is and not parts by parts

Best regards,

Fedde

Ok, thanks for the info.

I´m looking forward to have the 20" on my car too.

Any other aspects of having 20" rims on the M5?
