New Kid on the Block
After many lengthy debates with myself over whether to wait for an M3 (looked like a 10 month wait for one at MSRP, I decided to join the major leagues. With a wait of more than a year in Houston, I started calling around to smaller dealers and found one with a week 12 (March 19) build slot available. $1000 later, it's mine. I've ordered Carbon Black (416) with Black Sport interior (O5SW). I've enjoyed driving my C5 Vette but the General just doesn't know how to look after his products and I wanted the same performance level with 4 seats. I'm not only looking forward to the performance but to having a lot more stealth.

Steve,
Welcome to the Board and the Class of Spring '01 production! Just saw a Carbon 2000 today after a meeting, very nice color!
I'm going to post a summary of current orders, probably over the weekend. We have about 10 cars or so that are being built from week 6 to about week 12.
It's amazing that you were able to get one so fast, where is the dealership located? Also check out the BMWUSA Owners Circle once you have your production number, it's not great but kind of fun!
Again, congrats & welcome....

Welcome Steve =
Be sure to check out the March Motor Trend. You may be making even fewer compromises than you think....
Great choice!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I found the open slot at a delaer in Mississippi. The dealer seems to have whited out the production number on the Vehicle Inquiry Report he faxed me. Should I press him for it?

Thanks for the kind welcome. I live near Willowbrook. Let's get together when my car arrives (my breath is held). How can we exchange email addresses?

Steve,
Willowbrook Mall is about 20 minutes from my home. Email me at amenard@cisco.com and let's plan to meet soon. I'd be happy to pick you up in the BEAST and take you for a ride.. I am always looking for excuses to drive this car! Trust me.. you will too once you get yours!
I look forward to hearing from you.

Steve,
Be sure and post your impressions after you hook up with Andy, it's a great opportunity to learn about the car from a true owner and enthusiast, not a sales rep who only sees a few a year! Texas hospitality in action!
I would think your production number would be available, I'm pretty sure that all of the week 10-11s have theirs. It is my understanding that we won't get our VINs until much later.
Have fun with your orientation ride!!
