Just because you have a lighter color...do you wash it less???

There has been tons of talk about color selection and one of the major dings to a dark color like carbon black is that you will have to wash it a lot..........

Its kinda like your underwear...you dont have to wash your black skivvies as often as your white ones but I sure bet you do unless you want to gross out your sweetie................this does not apply to you wierdos in California that go commando.........LMAO

I submit that ANYONE with a M5, without regard to color, is washing their car with the same frequency as everyone else. sooooooo what do you guys think. Do you who own a Titanium or light colored car wash it less and allow your beast to get dirty just because you can.............I somehow doubt it.

I hope nobody has not selected a nice dark color because they were swayed by the washing argument......your gonna clean up your car no matter what so just get the color that fancies your gut..........

Let me know if this theory is right...

thanks

Not me. I wash it when it starts to look dirty, but at least once a month.

First, to address the thread's question: I wash my car less frequently than if it were a dark color but not because it is a lighter color (silver). I wash it less frequently because, to the eye, it typically needs much more time than dark colors to need a wash, assuming all else equal. (White cars are light colors but seem to need a wash as frequently as black cars, at least here in New England.)

People clean a car, by and large, for 2 reasons: (1) to keep it looking good to the eye and (2) to protect it from whatever might have been done to it (e.g., road salt) or will be done to it. For some people, if the car looks clean to the eye, that's all that matters (my approach).

I would not get a color I didn't like a lot just because it's easy to maintain. However, the ease of maintenance would somewhat influence my choice in color, at least for a daily driver. Fortunately, I love my car in silver.

Ti-Si once a week for almost three years.

Carbon black, every time I drove it. Thus I don't own the Carbon black anymore, and new one will be Estoril Blue. Once a week should be enough.

But I enjoy washing and detailing the car. It gives me great satisfaction seeing her shine.

I wash my Blue Water when it needs it. Average of 2-3 weeks.

If I get caught in rain, need to wash. But that doesn't happen often in Las Vegas.

If I had a black car, I would be washing twice a week.

I wash the 540 twice a week and the M5 once a week the 540 is dark blue and the M5 is sterling grey.
This is because the M5 is in the garage and is not in the elements as much as the 540.
so id say there the same because you can still look at wheels, windows, inside etc. and know.
